It's not as high as the $ 4.99 or more mark, but you're still making around two dollars a book and the lower price point is going to attract new readers who will be willing to
take a chance on your book.
But note that readers are less likely to
take a chance on a book with no reviews or with a poor cover at the $ 3.99 price point.
Some might argue that having a professional review as part of the book's description on Amazon (and elsewhere) adds a sheen of professionalism and leads to more readers

Unlike traditional publishers — who only
take on a
book if it has a
chance of doing really well, either because the author has an established platform or because the
book is in a very popular genre — I work
on a lot of projects that probably won't be as successful.
After spending thousands of hours
on a
book, the value of a subtle yet intriguing
book cover is what ultimately makes the difference whether a reader will
take a
chance on your work.
And I've learned a lot of reviews just flatly lie — they applaud
books that I then
take a
chance on and find out they're horrible.
You'll have an entirely new set of eyes
on it, giving your
book a second
chance to
take off and make great readership numbers.
POD simply doesn't work well for self - published fiction, because at the typical price of a printed
book, few readers will
take a
chance on an unknown quantity.
Unless there is a history of sales or a clear
book marketing plan from the author to get
