We also had the time change yesterday so
taking pictures of dinner is officially over for the season.
I was apparently so hungry on Sunday night that I forgot to
take a picture of my dinner on my DSLR.
As the days get longer, I find that I can actually
take pictures of our dinners in natural light (as long as we eat early enough) and use them for the blog.
I hardly ever
take pictures of my dinner because natural light works best for food photography (at least for me) so I shut down my camera when daylight starts to wane.
Not exact matches
When it comes to
taking digital
pictures, much
of the recent focus has been on smartphones — how they now
take better
pictures than many point - and - shoots did just a few years ago (and why it's now vital to be able to Instagram a shot
of your
dinner and make a phone call with the same device).
I actually thought
of this while we were away, when my brother and I were whipping up a batch
of homemade za'atar for a Middle Eastern
dinner we were making, but I didn't note down the recipe or
take pictures, so I made it again when we got home and am very glad to have a jar
of it in the pantry.

Gone are the days
of making
dinner,
taking pictures and eating.
When you have a food blog, and the food you
take pictures of is other people's
dinner, sometimes if you're not quick enough, those people start chewing on your subject matter.
I did notice last night I could have eaten the whole slab
of this (which is what sugar can do) but I was forced to stop because a) I knew I needed some to
take pictures the next day and b) I was actually quite full from my
dinner.

While I haven't
taken fashion
pictures in awhile, Ohio's first snow
of the season inspired me to do a very fun and very fast photo shoot before joining our friends for
dinner.
To offer a reason for all
of us to be there when Trevor proposed, I had texted everyone earlier in the week and told them we were going to have our family Christmas card
picture taken at the beach before
dinner on Saturday.
These
pictures make me happy because I know exactly where we were and how we felt
taking them: waiting for a
dinner reservation in Montauk, oohing and ahhing over the most insanely gorgeous sunset, starving after a day
of exploring but genuinely happy in that moment.
