talk about evangelism and church planting anymore, instead the shift away from ecclesiocentrism, well, kept shifting... and shifting... and shifting... and the church was soon excluded... and mission was eventually lost.

So, I knew that when I
talked about the gift of
evangelism and the evangelist, I had to get Rice to weigh in for several reasons.
One of the things I
talked about was my belief that there is no such thing as «the gift of
evangelism.»
Most of the street evangelists
talked about being secure in God's love and in our identity in Christ as an important foundation for
evangelism.
Despite all their
talk about missions and
evangelism, not a single one of the churches I was looking at were doing much to reach, love, and serve those in their own communities that needed Jesus most.
I didn't really
talk about it in this post, but so much of
evangelism and witnessing today is limited to just getting people to heaven when they die, and the Gospel is
about so much more than that!
Start
talking and thinking
about gospelism instead of
evangelism.
Since there is so much confusion around
evangelism, maybe we should start
talking about gospelism instead.
Now that people in the mainline denominations are starting to
talk unembarrassedly
about church growth and
evangelism of a fairly conventional sort, Wheeler worries that the potential exists for any emphasis on congregational studies to be misinterpreted as an outgrowth of the spirit of the times — which views local communities of believers uncritically, as in - arguably good things, and assumes that if there is anything the matter with them it is that they aren't big enough.
It seems that every group I run into seems to require
talk about sin and hell as part of the
evangelism message.
Jeremy, I agree... I believe that most people reached (and we're
talking about a true, genuine confession) by street
evangelism and other one - way forms of communication are good soil BECAUSE people in their lives have loved them and spoken to them
about God already.
I really dislike
talking about numbers of converts this way, because
evangelism is not
about numbers.
We also
talked about Tim's post
about our
evangelism slandering God's character.
Regardless of size of church or its location, effective youth
evangelism is possible when those within the church will take personal responsibility to move beyond thinking and
talking about reaching youth for Christ, and put into place the practical steps to equip and assist their youth to witness to their peers.
I will
talk more
about evangelism in future posts, but for now, a chart might be helpful.
