Animal Control; Spay / Neuter Kansas City; The Pet Connection; Purrfect Pets, Viner Rescue, many breed specific rescue groups that rescue 30 - 300
animals per year (ie Aussie Rescue; Missouri German Shepherd Rescue; Beagles and More; just to name a few... these groups and their efforts are belittled because someone 5 miles down the road won't get off their rear and do the same thing for the
animals in their
care.
They muck cages, change litter, tackle a mountain of laundry, answer phones, tally statistics, write grants, take photographs, write up
animal stories, build kitty trees, fix the roof, schlep «stuff», paint the building, plan and produce fundraisers, walk in parades, work at events to promote the Shelter, make signs, decorate and clean our facility, take
animals to and from the veterinarian, take complaints
about animal abuse, make visits to
talk with people
about humane
animal care, and pretty much anything else we need to keep this operation running.
A few years back I attended a panel discussion at
Animal Care Expo where Barbara Carr, then director of the Erie County SPCA,

animals and in this case the nutritional needs of cats and dogs, specifically is what we're
