By
pairing a receptor that
targets neurons with a molecule that degrades the main component
of Alzheimer's plaques, the biologists were able to substantially dissolve these plaques in mice brains and human brain tissue, offering a potential mechanism for treating the debilitating disease, as well as other conditions that involve either the brain or the
eyes.
Among them are the big, color «Map,» which would have been great to see
paired with the darkly magnificent gray version loaned by the Broad's downtown neighbor, the Museum
of Contemporary Art; «Diver,» a poetic eulogy to writer Hart Crane, with the artist's hands literally diving into a blackened sea
of charcoal and pigment; and «
Target With Four Faces,» a mixed - media work that juxtaposes a red - yellow - blue bull's -
eye with four three - dimensional casts
of an eyeless face.
