districts and schools accountable for providing all children with comprehensive college - preparatory content, for evaluating how well teachers and school leaders are doing in helping all students in their care succeed, and for providing all children with the
high expectations they
need to thrive in an increasingly knowledge - based economy.
It is past time for the state legislature to determine adequacy
targets for every school
district — how much funding each school
district needs to provide students with a
high - quality education.
The
targets need to be broken down for each
district and
high school, so they know exactly what they
need to do to contribute to the state's goal.
And when these schools still receive
high ratings despite not serving all students well, the state and
districts do not
need to take any action to
target resources and supports to improve achievement and close gaps.
