I made it with French onion soup because I dislike the
taste of plain beef
broth, and I REALLY like cooked onions in my soups, so wanted to amp up that
flavor.

Ingredients 1 1/2 pound acorn squash 2 teaspoons mild -
flavored oil such as canola 1 can coconut milk (13.5 ounces or 1 3/4 cup) 2 teaspoons rasam powder (MTR or 777) 1 - 2 cups vegetable
broth or water 1 1/2 tablespoons coconut oil 1/2 teaspoon black mustard seeds pinch
of asafetida (hing) 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds pinch
of cinnamon powder 1 sprig
of curry leaves 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder 1 inch ginger, peeled & grated 1 - 2 Indian green chili peppers — can substitute Serrano chili pepper 1 - 2 teaspoons jaggery or brown sugar — optional juice
of half a lemon mixed herbs such as cilantro, parsley or basil, chopped for garnish salt to
taste plain yogurt, for serving

Not only do they
taste worlds better than their canned counterparts, you also get the bonus
of a potful
of delicious bean
broth, which you can use to add
flavor to soups and stews (or, uh, just drink straight out
of the ladle).
The robust
taste of wild salmon holds its own in a
broth flavored with lemongrass, ginger, chiles, coriander, and cumin.
There are great
tasting dishes that can hide the
taste of bone
broth if you don't prefer the
flavor.
To up it even more, puree a small amount
of liver in the bone
broth and use a homemade taco seasoning mix (the stronger
flavor of taco seasoning will help cover the liver
taste).
Loss
of taste and smell senses can be easily compensated for by using foods with strong
flavors and smells, warming them up to release some
of those odors, and adding a small amount
of broth or baby food to the dog's food can help.
