I made a lentil
loaf yesterday, but it was a bit too carb - heavy for my
taste (lots
of bulgur).
Best
of all, it's one
of the many vegetarian
loaf recipes and lentil
loaf recipes that doesn't
taste like sawdust!
This round, firm
loaf of bread can be made using dried or candied fruit, depending on your
tastes.
I know all recipes sort
of can be altered to
taste a bit, but isn't it more traditional to go with honey, and to be a bit sweeter (like 3 tbsp) for 2
loaves?
The crust
of the Vienna
loaf is perfectly crisp and there is a delightful buttery
taste with every bite.
In fact, the only thing that beats it is
taste... I mean, have you ever met a bad
loaf of fresh bread?
I used my favorite gluten - free
loaf, but choose your favorite mild
tasting bread — you want the flavors
of the sandwich to really shine.
I bet it
tastes amazing and you have proven that you don't even need any fruit or natural sweetener in the more traditional sense to produce a sweet -
tasting loaf of bread.
Nutritionally speaking, white wheat berries are on par with the very hearty wheat flour we've come to know, but it has a slightly sweeter
taste, lighter texture and creamy color that rolls up into a pretty scrumptious
loaf of 100 % whole wheat bread.
It was just pouring down as I
tasted the first roll (oh, I forgot to mention that I made rolls instead
of loaves) and it somehow smelled
of sun because
of the lemon!
We piled up 10
loaves of sliced whole wheat sandwich bread and
tasted our way through them to determine once and for all which was the best
tasting of the bunch.
Every single
loaf of bread I made either never managed to rise, had a weird
taste, or was too crumbly for a sandwich!
I am also going to try my 1st add - ins — cinnamon, walnuts and raisins...... yummmmm... I am so happy so far with the
taste tho — the 1st
loaf was to be for dinner — I cut it to give «little»
tastes to all present, and had a line
of demanding people down the hall, looking for more — it was pretty funny — my poor husband comes in looking for more, and gets yelled at for not waiting for dinner!!
I'm making my second cranberry
loaf and can't believe how easy this is and how totally amazing the texture and
taste is
of something that is not supposed to be this easy.
Regardless
of how this
loaf tastes, I WILL be making this again, with different additions.
The finished product was absolutely delicious both in
taste and texture but the dough was the consistency
of batter and it was impossible to try to braid it into
loaf.
Fennel seed and onion
loaf slightly adapted from the always gorgeous Australian Gourmet Traveller 1/4 cup + 2 tablespoons (90 ml) olive oil, divided use 1 onion, finely chopped 2 teaspoons fennel seeds, plus extra for dusting 3 1/2 cups (490g) all purpose flour, plus extra for dusting 4 teaspoons (12g) dried yeast 2 teaspoons superfine sugar 3/4 teaspoon salt 1 cup (240 ml) warm water milk, for brushing crushed coarse salt or sea salt, for sprinkling — I used Maldon Heat 1/4 cup (60 ml)
of the olive oil in a small saucepan over medium heat, add onion, sauté until very tender (6 - 8 minutes), stir through fennel seeds, cook until fragrant (1 minute), remove from heat, season to
taste and cool.

It's filled with the warm, nutty
taste of chopped toasted walnuts paired with tart cranberries, sweet pears and just a handful
of white chocolate chips making it perfect for this month's Twelve
Loaves challenge
of using nuts, seeds or grains in a bread.
If the crust is browning too much for your
taste, set a piece
of foil over the top
of the
loaf during last half
of baking time.

So traditionally a nut roast contains either breadcrumbs or rice (sometimes even both) and I could well have cooked up a good
loaf of Paleo Granary Bread just for this dish but I opted for some coconut flour instead as it helps to retain moisture, and has that sweet, bread - like
taste.
The amount
of wheat
taste diminished in each
loaf from the least risen to the most risen, while the sourdough «tang» increased.

Loaf has robust flavor with a touch
of honey wheat
