My tips for quinoa are (1) soak quinoa in cold water beforehand to get rid
of the bitter
taste; (2)
toast your quinoa — it
tastes nuttier; (3) use a bit less than a 2:1 liquid: grain ratio, as more water makes for soggy quinoa; (4) cook in vegetable stock instead
of water and add in flavorings like smashed garlic, peppercorns and fresh thyme or rosemary sprigs.
Does a traditional Roux cooked in fat add anything to a dish (besides the properties
of the fat, aka
taste & texture) that plain old flour or
toasted flour would not?
The texture and
taste was delicious, went great with fried eggs instead
of regular wheat
toast, and they could easily double for pancakes if I wanted to top them with some fresh fruit and maple syrup.
Love the idea
of spreading the

I usually don't like French
Toast because it always
tastes too much
of egg to me so I will have to try it your way especially as that butter looks divine — I can think
of approximately a million things that I want to spread it on.
I just finished my first attempt ever at making caramel and I'm not sure if its burnt or not lol It got brown a lot faster than I expected, almost amber before the last few clumps melted, to the point where I really didn't even get a chance to swirl it.It doesn't really
