comparative breadth consists in Palmer's attention to the way in which most teachers
teach, regardless of whether they are
teaching philosophy,
literature, religion, or physics.
To resolve the discrepancy I made use of a rather ingenious technique from
comparative literature that was
taught to me many years ago by a drunken grad student.
Methods of content

comparative literature from Harvard before MTV, approaches collecting with an eye to

Richard Bowman was Professor Emeritus in Humanities at The Cooper Union,
teaching for 43 years on subjects such as Nonviolence, Resistance and Social Change, American Art,
Comparative Religion, and Music and
Literature.
He has
taught at Cooper Union, Yale, and RISD, and studied
Comparative Literature at Princeton University, Columbia University, and New York University.
She has a B.A. in
Comparative Literature from NYU and an MFA in Photography, Video + Related Media from SVA, and has
taught at Cooper Union and NYU.
From Palo Alto, Ed took his love of writing to New Haven, where he earned a PhD in
