In view of adequately preparing preservice teachers to
teach science through models, the authors of this paper (a) discuss how a cohort of preservice elementary teachers was introduced to model - based reasoning, and (b) examine the extent to which a classroom modeling experience with a computer tool enabled students to design learning activities in science with computer models.
