The statements within the standards reflect those areas of knowledge and understanding of core developmental milestones for progression on to the standards defined by the
interim teacher assessment framework at key stage 1.
This grid covers all the statements in the interim
teacher assessment framework working towards the expected standard (WT), working at the expected standard (EXS) and working at greater depth (GDS).
It is set out as a progression from EYFS to Y6 and includes not only the national curriculum statements but also those of the
interim teacher assessment frameworks for year 2 and year 6.
The government will consult on making assessments at the end of KS1 -
both teacher assessment frameworks and national curriculum tests - in English reading, English writing, mathematics and science non-statutory once the new assessment in reception is fully established.
If a school decides not to enter a pupil for the tests or if a teacher does not have evidence that a pupil consistently meets all the statements in the lowest standards in the interim
teacher assessment frameworks, the interim pre-key stage standard (s) should be used to provide a statutory assessment outcome for the pupil and any reasonable adjustments which reflect usual classroom practice may remain for teacher assessment.
