National Council on Teacher Quality (NCTQ), a non-partisan research and policy organization dedicated to ensuring every classroom has a high quality teacher, has released a new report on the effects of recent reforms of state teacher evaluation policies
on teacher effectiveness ratings.
Despite these similarities among districts that share borders, the distribution
of teacher effectiveness ratings is incredibly inconsistent — it makes one wonder if Florida is pushing districts to implement any «statewide» standards.
The union representing New York City's teachers goes to court Wednesday to try to stop the release to the media of a database of
teacher effectiveness ratings.
So I would urge The Times to resist posting
the teacher effectiveness ratings at this time.
At some point a school district must lay student growth measures next to
teacher effectiveness ratings and evaluate outcomes.
