of being a bystander and spark discussions about why Chloe did not reach
out to Maya, about what she might have done, and how she might move forward.
If possible, bring a large bowl filled with water and a small stone and reenact the
teacher's exercise from the story — each person drops a stone into the water while describing an act
of kindness he or she has carried
out.
