When
particular elements in the traditional
teaching about the nature
of things have been challenged by demonstrable scientific findings, the whole structure
of religious dogma has been called into question.
Christianity in
particular has been interpreted as the religious experience
of the peoples
of Europe, constantly nourished by the life,
teaching and personality
of Jesus
of Nazareth, and as the dominant force in the unit
of Western civilization, holding together its constitutive Hebrew, Greco - Roman and Germanic
elements.
It is the fusion
of these three
elements in his representation
of Jesus» life and
teaching that makes it a matter
of the greatest difficulty to distinguish in any
particular discourse between what rests upon a deep understanding
of the true meaning
of Jesus» actual words and what is read into them in the light both
of experience and
of preconceived ideas as what the Word
of God should fittingly proclaim.
... But
elements of the flipped classroom, where you're just identifying things in your
teaching and learning practices in the classroom... perhaps maths is a great example even in primary school, where a lot
of students just require a
particular maths example to be explained over and over and over, using different examples.
A majority
of grade 1 and 2 teachers across levels
of school effectiveness were frequently observed
teaching phonics in isolation, including working with words on a whiteboard, chart, or worksheet; working with word cards dealing with word study or word families; making words; writing words; and reading words with a
particular phonic
element.
As well, this
particular kind
of expertise requires leaders to know about how individual teachers learn to
teach more effectively; how to skillfully observe for those
elements in the instructional process; and, how to craft feedback to teachers and principals about what is observed that supports their current practice, and at the same time challenges them to improve.
Measures to improve professionalism in
teaching with
particular regard to diagnostic and methodical competence as an
element of systematic school development.
When I began my
teaching career, at Georgetown, I
taught a traditional legal writing course with writing assignments drawn from a variety
of doctrinal areas, paying more attention to skills I wanted to
teach — e.g. analyzing statutes, using
elements tests, analogizing and distinguishing cases, synthesizing case and statutory law, etc. — than to integrating any
particular area
of doctrine.
