Because much of
teaching social studies revolves around names, places, and dates, it is very easy to create assignments and tests that do not move beyond the Recall level of Bloom's Taxonomy.
My earliest and most enduring research efforts have

social side of schools — perhaps because, during my days as a
social studies teacher, I was so much more interested in the adolescents I
taught than the content that I
taught them.
