I think it's overly dramatic to say that «Christian
Theology classes taught in Philosophy
classes in Universities» have ruined the lives of many.
My own experience in
teaching religion and
theology to middle - and upper - middle -
class undergraduates and graduate students in America for the past decade or so certainly suggests that this way of thinking about religion fits neatly with a strong tendency toward the kind of knee - jerk relativism that is also widespread among those in the same social strata.
There are also those religious professionals who supposedly have had all the
theology, Greek and Hebrew
classes offered in seminary who also seem to find their own version of crazy stuff in the Bible, and
teach it to their congregations.
In a dozen years of parish ministry this was the first time I had
taught a
class on
theology.
It is amazing how the attestation / stratum analyses used by the Jesus Seminarians, e.g. Professors Crossan, Ludemann, Borg and Fredriksen, agree with what is currently being
taught in graduate
theology classes at many large Catholic universities (e.g. Catholic U, Notre Dame).
Outside of regular yoga
classes she loves to write articles and
teach workshops on introspection blending modern cognitive therapy ideas with
theology and literature for the perfect blend of brain exercise.
