One of the biggest things achieved by Arsene Wenger
at Arsenal in recent years is the
formation of a plan B, something that many football observers were beginning to believe was a foreign idea to the prof.. It is still true that the boss wants his
team to play in a certain style that is fluent, exciting and easy on the eye but he also wants to win and that need has forced him into a change of tactics.

team regardless of how they do.I hope to one day visit Atlanta and see them play
at home in Georgia.I hope to one day see them bring back black jerseys as the home colors.I am still a fan of the run n shoot offense i truly believe it can work in the nfl if ran and merged with some two back
formations and a one back three wide one tight end
formation.

lst season
at stamford bridge, was the first time i saw that 4 -1-4-1
formation being used, and for some weird reason i feel a very strange negative vibe and well all know the outcome.the manager has come back with this
formation and its not yielding result, but he still sticks with it.i do nt know much about
formations dear friends, but if you are playing a slow dm in arteta and a very very slow cb, then you are toast against quality
teams with sound tactics.wen playing wellbeck as a lone striker, i think 4 -2-3-1, will work better, but if we have a big player like oliver (boooos), thn we can try the 4 -1-4-1, thingy cos he can hold the ball for our midfielders to run in.but on the overall, shame on wenger for not giving our defence a good cover DM.NO BODY PLAYS A SLOW DM / CB AND EXPECT TO B REGARDED AS CHAMPIONSHIP MATERIAL.IT HURTS GUYS, REALLY HURTS.
At Arsenal, being the manager, Wenger decides which player is good enough to be bought, which player is good enough to play in the first

formation and style of play) to use, when to bring on or take off a player (substitutions) during games, etc..

Nwakali is a forward or wing player, nothing like kante and Ramsey is a squad player for me not first
team quality, if Carzola is fit, him and xhaka would be a mouth watering fit but with Arsenals Injurie luck this seems inlikely but i wounder if the five
at the back would work if we play a stubborn
team that defends, i hope Arsene would change the
formation in such games back to 4 -2-3-1 but this would require a proper rght wing which we havent had in years, we've had OX, Campell, Wallcot, Iwobi, Ramsey, Welbeck and Ozil play in that position and non of them have made it their own like sanchez has with the left wing
wenger is the oldest deadwood we have
at the club, transfers aside whats with the terrible
formations against stronger oppositions, why must ramsey play every match even when there is no space for him on the

Its almost as if they shit themselves and backed off of city and as Ive already said there was None in the
team who wants to own the responsibility when the chips are down everyone turns their backs and more or less says «its not down to me» «its not my responsibility» and Wenger who should be appointing a player to lead when we are up against it or
at least chopping and changing
formations ect and revitalising the side just rants
at the ref and means about offside.
This is an incredibly difficult question to answer for a variety of reasons, most importantly because over the years our once vaunted «beautiful» style of play has become a shadow of it's former self, only to be replaced by a less than stellar «plug and play» mentality where players play out of position and adjustments / substitutions are rarely forthcoming before the 75th minute... if you look
at our current players, very few would make sense in the traditional Wengerian system...
at present, we don't have the personnel to move the ball quickly from deep - lying position, efficient one touch midfielders that can make the necessary through balls or the disciplined and pacey forwards to stretch defences into wide positions, without the aid of the backs coming up into the final 3rd, so that we can attack the defensive lanes in the same clinical fashion we did years ago... on this current squad, we have only 1 central defender on staf, Mustafi, who seems to have any prowess in the offensive zone or who can even pass two zones through so that we can advance play quickly out of our own end (I have seen some inklings that suggest Holding might have some offensive qualities but too early to tell)... unfortunately Mustafi has a tendency to get himself in trouble when he gets overly aggressive on the ball... from our backs out wide, we've seen pace from the likes of Bellerin and Gibbs and the spirited albeit offensively stunted play of Monreal, but none of these players possess the skill - set required in the offensive zone for the new Wenger scheme which requires deft touches, timely runs to the baseline and consistent crossing, especially when Giroud was playing and his ratio of scored goals per clear chances was relatively low (better last year though)... obviously I like Bellerin's future prospects, as you can't teach pace, but I do worry that he regressed last season, which was obvious to Wenger because there was no way he would have used Ox as the right side wing - back so often knowing that Barcelona could come calling in the off - season, if he thought otherwise... as for our midfielders, not a single one, minus the more confident Xhaka I watched played for the Swiss national
team a couple years ago, who truly makes sense under the traditional Wenger model... Ramsey holds onto the ball too long, gives the ball away cheaply far too often and abandons his defensive responsibilities on a regular basis (doesn't score enough recently to justify): that being said, I've always thought he does possess a little something special, unfortunately he thinks so too... Xhaka is a little too slow to ever boss the midfield and he tends to telegraph his one true strength, his long ball play: although I must admit he did get a bit better during some points in the latter part of last season... it always made me wonder why whenever he played with Coq Wenger always seemed to play Francis in a more advanced role on the pitch... as for Coq, he is way too reckless
at the wrong times and has exhibited little offensive prowess yet finds himself in and around the box far too often... let's face it Wenger was ready to throw him in the trash heap when injuries forced him to use Francis and then he had the nerve to act like this was all part of a bigger Wenger constructed plan... he like Ramsey, Xhaka and Elneny don't offer the skills necessary to satisfy the quick transitory nature of our old offensive scheme or the stout defensive mindset needed to protect the defensive zone so that our offensive players can remain aggressive in the final third... on the front end, we have Ozil, a player of immense skill but stunted by his physical demeanor that tends to offend, the fact that he's been played out of position far too many times since arriving and that the players in front of him, minus Sanchez, make little to no sense considering what he has to offer (especially Giroud); just think about the quick counter-attack offence in Real or the space and protection he receives in the German National
team's midfield, where
teams couldn't afford to focus too heavily on one individual... this player was a passing «specialist» long before he arrived in North London, so only an arrogant or ignorant individual would try to reinvent the wheel and / or not surround such a talent with the necessary components... in regards to Ox, Walcott and Welbeck, although they all possess serious talents I see them in large part as headless chickens who are on the injury table too much, lack the necessary first - touch and / or lack the finishing flair to warrant their inclusion in a regular starting eleven; I would say that, of the 3, Ox showed the most upside once we went to a back 3, but even he became a bit too consumed by his pending contract talks before the season ended and that concerned me a bit... if I had to choose one of those 3 players to stay on it would be Ox due to his potential as a plausible alternative to Bellerin in that wing - back position should we continue to use that
formation... in Sanchez, we get one of the most committed skill players we've seen on this squad for some years but that could all change soon, if it hasn't already of course... strangely enough, even he doesn't make sense given the constructs of the original Wenger offensive model because he holds onto the ball too long and he will give the ball up a little too often in the offensive zone... a fact that is largely forgotten due to his infectious energy and the fact that the numbers he has achieved seem to justify the means... finally, and in many ways most crucially, Giroud, there is nothing about this
team or the offensive system that Wenger has traditionally employed that would even suggest such a player would make sense as a starter... too slow, too inefficient and way too easily dispossessed... once again, I think he has some special skills and,
at times, has showed some world - class qualities but he's lack of mobility is an albatross around the necks of our offence... so when you ask who would be our best starting 11, I don't have a clue because of the 5 or 6 players that truly deserve a place in this side, 1 just arrived, 3 aren't under contract beyond 2018 and the other was just sold to Juve... man, this is theraputic because following this
team is like an addiction to heroin without the benefits
Lets take a look
at Wenger's recent (upto 1 - 2 years something) decisions regarding
team formation and players in starting 11.
No Wilshire hate
at all just would like Wenger to leave the
team selection and
formation alone.
I understand what you're saying bounty hunter, but I feel like the week prior to big games should be enough time to
at least tweak our
formation slightly or employ a certain tactic, whether it's counter attack with less possession or playing with two strikers up top instead of the lone striker, I would hope that players
at the level required for arsenal would be able to adjust to this as it seems I tend to hear other
teams coming away from big wins uttering phrases like «we worked on the manager's ideas this week and executed them well», I cant remember our players saying this for a while.
van Gaal spoke to Sky Sports after the game and hit out
at his
team's failure to cope with the Swans» change of

I really think if Diaby is back
at any point in the season this
team and
formation could beat any EPL
team... even Chelsea.
Ainsley Maitland Niles in his two or so matches a CM has shown me that he can protect the back four and attack very well. Why is Wenger destroying the player
at LB?I remember also telling everyone here earlier in the season that we should change our
formation to four back and that Monreal and Kolasinac shouldn't be in the same
team as one has to be rested and deputise for the other.I don't care how consistent Monreal is and to me he has no CB qualities. He
at times looks almost world class
at LB but to me he has no qualities of a CB.Why is Xhaka also starting?Coquelin is twice the player he is for the role Xhaka should be playing.
But it's not just about the 3 -4-3
formation at the back but also about the quality of the players to suit the
team dynamics, whether in transition or regrouping defensively, depending on the suitability of the players.
After Özil's three month injury, Wenger had to find a solution for the
team and with the new
formation (4 -1-4-1) not working
at all, he had to make a decision and it seems like playing Alexis as a no. 10 in a somewhat more conventional 4 -2-3-1 is his answer in the time being.
We are more balance
at the back with this new
formation and look more like a
team.
A look
at how Barcelona could line up if they signed Wayne Rooney from Manchester United, plus two of his
team - mates, with an experimental 3 -3-1-3
formation needed to make it work.
My fellow gunners Wenger is a failure either you admit or not, though this is a preseason match which is less important just to make the players gain fitness, before the competitive matches commence, but
at the same time Wenger's tactics and
formation should be questioned especially against big
teams, he had conceded numerous goals against big
teams in which today's match is a reflection of what we are talking about, his old and out dated philosophy is no longer valid in modern football, no wonder Alexis Sanchez can't confide in his plans to propel the
team in winning major honours, Wenger still believe in some of the bunch of fringe players he should have gotten rid of in the
team and replace them with world class players or players that are hungry for success like Alexis, anyway there is still much time in the transfer window presently to do that, if he can change the hands of time and stop being too stubborn.
Secondly, Wenger needs to become far more flexible when it comes to his
formation selections... remember this is the same individual that hadn't used a 3 - back system for 20 years and only conceded to the experiment when the proverbial shit hit the fan... you know it killed him to adopt «Conte's» system, which is probably why he resisted so long; in fact his stubbornness to adjust even earlier might have cost us the 4 hole... much like most sports that have tactical
formations, every
team should have a «base» offensive and defensive scheme, but they likewise need to have some inherent flexibility depending on the opposing
teams tactics and / or when specific substitutions are made... how many times have you watched a Wenger - run
team make a late substitution but not change their shape on the pitch... furthermore, how many times have you seen our
team fail to make the necessary adjustments
at halftime due to Wenger's tactical stubbronness, which often led to giving up goals in the early minutes of the second - half... the best
teams in the world know how to make halftime adjustments whereas we always seem to be surprised when the opposing
team throws a wrinkle into the mix following halftime... this my friend is soccer 101

Talking about tonight's kick off
at home against Cologne FC and considering DAVID OSPINA is the designated competition goalkeeper, I would in the next few paragraphs suggest what Arsenal
team setup should like
at the back, in the midfield and upfront in a 3 -4-3
formation.
Every
team has (or
at least, should have) a best
formation — a tested and trusted method / approach / tactic / strategy that works best for them.
Some
teams do that by being simple and mixing in tons of
formations at a dizzying pace.
Whilst it can be a useful exercise to use pre-season to experiment with
formations and tactics this should be reserved for the latter stages of a game once substitutions are made.Crucially Arsenal failed to use game time to acclimatise the players who are likely to start the Season to one another and to continue to develop a
team philosophy which had proven so successful in a crucial game
at the end of last Season.Reverting to type will only have one end product and it won't go down well with the Arsenal faithful.
