promotion of science,
technology, engineering, and mathematics education.
The topics will range from emerging markets, untapped markets that publishers can pursue for fans and readers, new
technology that will have wide impact as well as examining the readers of tomorrow that will require new marketing and
promotion efforts.
To accelerate these and other
efforts, we are committed to increasing investment in both basic and applied environmental and clean energy
technology research and development (R&D), and the
promotion of commercialization including through direct government funding and fiscal measures to encourage private sector investment.
A less formal approach that focuses on coordinating policies across borders, already under way as the result of some modest progress at the global climate talks, as well as innovative
efforts to coordinate
technology promotion such as the Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM) process, may be the best that is possible in the near future.
