teenage girls going through huge emotional changes, there will be
groups of four to six young men singing pop songs to them (and sometimes
dancing).
Waiting for an F train at the Delancey Street station a few summers back, I witnessed a display of condensed
teenage effusiveness that seemed to have been loosed from the very heart of a classic musical, with two
groups of kids engaging in an amazingly raucous cross-track
dance battle.
In the
dance, a dozen or so
teenaged girls, dressed in black and trailing red scarves, move in time to rhythmic music, following choreography that alternates between short solos and
group interaction.
