We have a specific intake person who only interacts with family surrender people because they require more time and need to have their hands held through the process more
than a shelter transfer, or a dog coming from another rescue person or puppy mill.

One quick note on the numbers: In 2009, 2010 and the first half of 2011 the operators of the

transfer» numbers for those years are much lower
than they should be and «adoption» numbers are much higher.

transfer partner for Stockton, SFSPCA staff had seen firsthand that — due to health issues — Stockton's dogs had to stay quarantined longer and receive more care
than those coming from other

shelter partners, as well as healthy dogs from
shelters in Oklahoma, Texas and surrounding states that have limited resources and more dogs
than adopters.
