It is perfectly normal for breastfed infants to want and need to be fed this frequently because human milk digests through their system significantly
faster than commercial formula.
If mother's milk is not adequate or of good quality, or if the mother is unable to breast feed for whatever reason, a homemade baby formula,
rather than a commercial formula, can be used.
However, many situations call out for a good substitute: adopted and orphaned babies, babies born to mothers with serious health problems, and babies whose mothers do not have enough milk (a situation that does happen occasionally) deserve to receive something
better than commercial formula.
However, a far better
option than commercial formula would be to try the Infant Formula Fortification Protocol developed by Dr. Patricia Kane and myself.
Homemade Baby Formula: Breastfeeding is best for Mom and baby, but when logistical or medical challenges make this goal impossible, a nourishing homemade baby formula fills the gap much better
than any commercial formulas — even organic!Piecing together the ingredients for the homemade formula can be tricky, but fortunately, there is a one stop shop for purchasing the homemade formula kit to get started quickly as babies don't wait!
