I made the headboard shown at left from
wood cut in a fancy shape, but you can do a square, or use some material other
than wood.
The cross
cut of the
wood grain is more porous and so it would likely absorb water more easily
than the lengthwise
cut following the grain of the
wood on top of the counter.
This means that the amount of
wood that is
cut down is significantly less
than the amount of trees that are grown, preventing deforestation and reducing carbon emissions from processing.
So much easier
than cutting something out of
wood.
More controllable and easier to use
than a standard knife, secateurs are good for pruning,
cutting wood and taking
cuttings.
