The Peninsula's warming faster, it appears,
than any other place on the planet —
since 1957, by an average of 5 ˚F (2.8 ˚C) year - round, and by 9 ˚F (5 ˚C)
in winter.
On the possibility of a changing cloud cover «forcing» global warming
in recent times (assuming we can just ignore the CO2 physics and current literature on feedbacks,
since I don't see a contradiction between an internal radiative forcing and positive feedbacks), one would have to explain a few things, like why the diurnal temperature gradient would decrease with a planet being warmed by decreased albedo... why the stratosphere should cool... why
winters should warm faster
than summers... essentially the same questions that come with the cosmic ray hypothesis.
However, fewer
than half (43 percent) of Americans report they often or always set the thermostat to 68 degrees or cooler
in the

Although this century kicked off with the hottest decade on record, 2010 was the hottest year and
in 2011 the Arctic may have broken both the summer and the
winter melting record, there has still been heat missing: the rise
in global temperatures is smaller
than what one would expect from the rise
in greenhouse gas concentrations, which — despite UNFCCC attempts to tackle climate change
since Kyoto 1997 and Copenhagen 2009 — has even accelerated.
For the entire Northern Hemisphere, there is evidence of an increase
in both storm frequency and intensity during the cold season
since 1950,1 with storm tracks having shifted slightly towards the poles.2, 3 Extremely heavy snowstorms increased
in number during the last century
in northern and eastern parts of the United States, but have been less frequent
since 2000.11,15 Total seasonal snowfall has generally decreased
in southern and some western areas, 16 increased
in the northern Great Plains and Great Lakes region, 16,17 and not changed
in other areas, such as the Sierra Nevada, although snow is melting earlier
in the year and more precipitation is falling as rain versus snow.18 Very snowy
winters have generally been decreasing
in frequency
in most regions over the last 10 to 20 years, although the Northeast has been seeing a normal number of such
winters.19 Heavier -
than - normal snowfalls recently observed
in the Midwest and Northeast U.S.
in some years, with little snow
in other years, are consistent with indications of increased blocking (a large scale pressure pattern with little or no movement) of the wintertime circulation of the Northern Hemisphere.5 However, conclusions about trends
in blocking have been found to depend on the method of analysis, 6 so the assessment and attribution of trends
in blocking remains an active research area.
Warmer
winters (if they have lots of clouds...
in winter thick clouds actually warm
since there is less daylight and there cooling effect is now reversed to warming by retaining the heat... reflecting more IR
than carbon dioxide can do, depending upon the type of cloud).
Those dangers are now being dramatically demonstrated around the globe: drought
in the Marshall Islands
in the Pacific, which has forced the government there to issue a state of emergency warning; France observed its warmest
winter since records began; while the sea ice that has formed

winter is about a million square kilometres less
than its average for this time of year.
Detecting glacialquakes is important because glaciers appear to accelerate after large calving events.2 The frequency of glacialquakes — which has been rising
since the late 1990s — has increased particularly
since 2002.3
In fact, the number of quakes in 2005 was twice that of 2001.1 In late summer of 2005, glacial seismic activity was almost five times greater than in the winter months — most likely owing to seasonal changes in temperature.1,

Sea levels are rising (ask the Mayor of Miami who has spent tax monies to raise road levels), we've had 15 of the hottest years eve measured, more precipitation is coming down
in heavy doses (think Houston), we're seeing more floods and drought
than ever before (consistent with predictions), the oceans are measuring warmer, lake ice
in North America is thawing sooner (where it happens
in northern states and Canada), most glaciers are shrinking, early spring snowpacks out west have declined
since the 1950's, growing seasons are longer throughout the plains, bird
wintering ranges have moved north, leaf and bloom dates recorded by Thoreau
in Walden have shifted
in that area, insect populations that used to have one egg - larva - adult cycle
in the summer now have two, the list goes on and on.
I ran an analysis of the 22 El Niño events

Sea ice
in the Bering Sea this
winter was said to be the lowest
since the 1850s, largely driven by persistent winds from the south rather
than the usual north winds although warm Pacific water was a factor early
in the season (AIRC 2018).

Using data gathered from buoys, drifting weather stations, and field campaigns, the study authors discovered that the number of
