I'm really contemplating getting this tablet, especially since it has more Google / Android support
than the Fire HDX.
When viewed outside, side by side, the iPad Air 2 was clearly dimmer
than the Fire HDX, but reflected less of buildings and plants nearby.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 is 0.26 inches thick, but at 9.73 x 7 x 0.26 inches and 1.02 pounds, it is larger and heavier
than the Fire HDX 8.9 or the iPad Air 2.
For $ 65 less
than the Fire HDX, the HD 7 has a much lower - res screen, a slightly slower processor, a little less battery life, and a little more weight.
Not exact matches
The sub 8 - inch tablet market is booming, though, and Apple arguably has more impressive competition in this arena
than it does in the 10 - inch one, with the likes of the Nexus 7, Kindle

The Surface 3 has a Peak Brightness of 395 cd / m2 (nits), which is Very Good, slightly lower
than other full size Tablets like the Apple iPad Air 2 with 415 nits, but much less
than some medium size Tablets like the Kindle
Fire HDX 8.9 with 527 nits.
This new UI is more intuitive and provides more customization
than the Amazon Kindle

Fire HDX 8.9 underwent the most comprehensive screen test ever by the renowned DisplayMate organization, they gave the display on
Fire HDX 8.9 a much higher rating
than the display on tablets like Nexus 10 and iPad Air.
Although Amazon's covers are a bit pricey (the poly one is cheaper
than the leather one) other cover designers have already started to create Kindle
Fire covers for the new
HDX tablets.

than the Air 2, which isn't too surprising given the iPad's larger screen.

HDX is far different — and far more interesting —

The 8.9 - inch Kindle
Fire HDX is larger and heavier
than all of the above, measuring 9.2 x 6.2 x 0.31 inches and weighing 13.3 ounces.
That's far and away better
than the category average of 8,267, and it is better
than the iPad mini (14,128) and the
Fire HDX (12,768).
You'll get a lot more bang for the buck with a Kindle

than I did a couple of years ago with the Kindle HD.

Amazon has created a dedicated keyboard for the

Fire HD line so that they can easily be connected to a TV or computer monitor with a SlimPort adapter (they are much cheaper
than the Miracast adapters required for the
HDX).
The bezels are a little thicker
than its competitors and it can't really be called pretty, but the Kindle
Fire HDX 8.9 is a well - built tablet, especially considering how light it is.
Even though it's much bigger
than 7 - inch tablets the
Fire HDX 8.9 can be held comfortably for hours — either in portrait or landscape.
That's about 2.5 hours longer
than the Kindle
Fire HDX (8:39) and Nexus 7 (8:26) and nearly 3 hours longer
than the Galaxy Note 8 (7:12).

There is a substantial difference between my Kindle
Fire and Kindle
Fire HDX - the former is far more glitchy
than the latter.
Measuring 7.83 x 4.68 x 0.37 inches and weighing 11.2 ounces, the Tegra Note 7 is a tad thicker and heavier
than the Google Nexus 7 (10.34 ounces, 7.9 x 4.5 x 0.34 inches) and Amazon Kindle
Fire HDX (10.7 ounces, 7.3 x 5 x 0.35 inches).
The
Fire HDX processor runs at a higher clock speed and is a newer design that features faster graphics
than that of a Nexus 7.
The
Fire HDXs are the older models (3rd and 4th generation) but they are still more advanced
than the newer
Fire HD models (4th and 5th generation).
On 3DMark Ice Storm Unlimited, a synthetic benchmark which measures graphics prowess, the Tab S 8.4 scored a strong 13,518, which is far better
than the 9,695 category average, the LG G Pad 8.3's 7,785 score, and the Kindle
Fire HDX 8.9's mark of 12,786.
