I guess that C.S. Lewis — here at least — spoke of pleasure rather
than of Christian happiness which, of course, can not be found in any outwardly oriented religion if we are not
indwelt by the Holy
Spirit who gives us love, joy, peace, and much more (Gal 5:22 - 23).
Finally, many believe that a Christian who is truly
indwelled with the
Spirit of God should have more victory over sin
than what Paul describes in Romans 7:15 - 20.
