While I was thrilled about a dress with pockets, the gathers at the waist above the pockets didn't sit right, made the waist look wider
than the bottom hem.
Not exact matches
For example, with this project you could have a button closure or a zipper closure in the back rather
than a tie, add trim on the
bottom hem and where the bodice meets the skirt and of course don't forget pockets!
The skirt length, it hits the sweet spot at your knee to show off the curve of your leg and width at the
bottom... notice how it goes in at the
hem and is more narrow
than at the hip?
Alterations tip: to get dresses like this to hit at your optimal length, try either altering by raising up the shoulder straps if sleeveless, or, have your tailor remove the
bottom ruffled
hem part from the dress and re-attach it at the best height (rather
than hem length off the
bottom of the ruffle).
I saw this and immediately thought of doing it the other way around — turn any (cloth) shower curtain into a window curtain:) That's cuz I just did that with the curtains for our french doors — added a strip of coordinating fabric to the
bottom of two lovely cotton print shower curtains from Target to make them long enough, folded over and sewed down the top
hem to hide the buttonholes, added clip rings, voila, speedy magic and the right print for way less
than the cost of purchasing an equivalet yardage from Joann's.
