than dust particles would dim all wavelengths of light equally when passing in front of Tabby's Star.
A planet on the ring's outside is moving more slowly
than the dust particles, and its gravity decreases the energy of the particles, making them fall slightly inward.

dust, and other pesky

dust?

particles in the ships» exhaust create large numbers of cloud droplets that are, on average, smaller
than those forming around natural
dust particles in the air elsewhere over the ocean.
Variations in the wind speed and the weight of the
particles caused some parts of the cloud to travel faster or slower
than others, and so the cloud spread as it moved around Earth, until it covered the equator with an almost imperceptible veil of
dust and sulfurous
particles.
By examining infrared data taken earlier by the Spitzer Space Telescope, they discovered a swath of
dust particles ranging in size from 0.1 to 20 microns (finer
than a split hair) that added up to the mass of a large asteroid and, based on their warmth, were strewn about 1.8 Earth — sun distances from the star.
Particles in the rings are on average much brighter
than Chariklo's surface because they often collide, exposing fresh, bright ice; meanwhile, Chariklo itself continues to accumulate
dust, he suggests.

Careful analysis of the polarisation results revealed these grains of
dust to be comparatively large
particles, 0.5 micrometres across, which may seem small, but grains of this size are about 50 times larger
than the
dust normally found in interstellar space.
The gauntlet Juno ran at Jupiter held many chances for catastrophe: The spacecraft might have been knocked out by intense magnetic fields (at that distance, 20 times stronger
than Earth's), ionizing radiation (a total dose of 265 rads — more
than enough to kill a human being),
dust particles from Jupiter's rings (from which the main engine was completely unshielded) or loss of power if the solar arrays were unable to reorient to the sun.
Researchers found that the size of the

With the help of citizen scientists, the research team has identified seven
dust particles and residues - less
than 1 millionth of a metre across - that are consistent with interstellar
dust, which they have documented in an academic paper entitled «Evidence for interstellar origin of seven
dust particles collected by the Stardust spacecraft» and published in the journal Science.

There has to be some sort of inhomogeneity, such as free surface, cloud droplet,
dust particle or abrupt change of refractive index, for the energy in the intercepted electromagnetic radiation to reappear in the form of translational motion (i.e. heat) rather
than being confined to vibrational and rotation modes.
Kok's work, which focused on a type of airborne
