I thought Vantage Point looked like a pretty decent thriller from the
trailer - quite refreshing to see actors of a certain vintage in a film like this, rather
than a bunch of kids - but reviews suggest my enthusiasm was possibly misplaced (I'll get to
make my own mind up soon enough).
Hopefully, upcoming
trailers will show me more and
make me a believer that this version is better
than the 1982 original.
Plus, if you need anymore convincing (other
than the awesome
trailer), director Todd Strauss - Schulson checked in with us to
make sure you know that this movie is all about.
Finally, we get not one but two
trailers (each 2 1/2 minutes) for The Road, both
making the film seem far more accessible and Charlize Therony
than it really is.
But I will see it because the Coens have really only
made one film I didn't like (BAR — Which had a
trailer which was MUCH better
than the film itself).
That
trailer was filled with over-expository moments and scenes that
made the film look like a remake of Predator rather
than an adaptation of VanderMeer's work.
What It Could Win: The first
trailer for Collateral Beauty
makes it look like a weepy take on A Christmas Carol, but the movie has a dark side that might intrigue more
than one Academy voter.
As demons lay waste to the outside world with fire and brimstone, what else is a group of actors trapped in a house going to do other
than make a homemade
trailer for a proposed sequel to a movie that the majority of them were in?
Everything we've seen so far from Café Society, including the
trailer and these clips,
makes their latest collaboration look more enticing
than their previous film.
The Buzz: Yes, Braff has gone from It Dude to Unbearably Annoying over the last few years, but as the
trailer makes clear, «The Ex» rests more on Bateman's gifts
than Braff's shtick, and that's a good thing.
Ever since a Gears of War
trailer used the Gary Jules cover of «Mad World» (from the Donnie Darko soundtrack) a couple of years ago, video game developers have started to realize that slow mo sequences and atmospheric music
makes a much stronger impression
than rapid fire editing and nu - metal.
I hope the show works out better

making it look, because the Versace story has everything — fashion, sex, celebrity, power, fin de siècle extravagance, and not just murder but SERIAL murder.

makes the film look darker, more serious, and more action - packed

than that, the Darkest Hour
trailer make its look like a pretty standard alien invasion movie, complete with semi-hokey dialogue («They came here with a plan!»)
Warner Bros. has released the
trailer for its 4K re-release of Ridley Scott's original Blade Runner, which
makes the classic look better
than ever.
People usually bemoan the lack of a strong human element in big blockbusters like this, but while «Godzilla» aims to remedy that by placing the focus more on them
than the giant monsters doing battle, the characters are so bland and thinly written (with the exception of Bryan Cranston's scientist, who has a smaller role
than is hinted at in the
trailers) that it only
makes things worse.

trailer for xXx: The Return of Xander Cage has
made its way online, and it shows Vin Diesel's character back and more

trailer's original music choice of the Beastie Boys» «Sabotage» — I think this one is going to
make more fans a lot happier.

made, but we need movies like this right now.
From the brief footage we can see, there's a post =» Django» looseness to Leonardo DiCaprio «s starring performance that
makes it seem like he's having much more fun
than his angsty earlier roles for the director, and the rest of the cast, including Jonah Hill, Kyle Chandler, Jon Benrthal, Margot Robbie, Cristin Milioti and especially a clearly show - stealing Matthew McConaughey look to be good value too (there's more to come too; Jean Dujardin, Jon Favreau, Rob Reiner, Spike Jonze, Jake Hoffman, Shea Whigham and Joanna Lumley are among those set to appear, though they're not in the
trailer).
We never do find out how, why, or what happened to
make «A Quiet Place» so quiet, as the
trailer actually seems to give more pretense into this
than the film — but it is truly a chilling good suspenseful thriller with a final scene that will knock your socks off.
A24 purchased the film, which stars Toni Collette, Alex Wolff, Milly Shapiro, Ann Dowd, and Gabriel Byrne, ahead of the festival, and judging by its first
trailer, a conscious effort is being
made to position Ari Aster's feature - length directorial debut as less miminalist in the horror department
than both The Witch and It Comes at Night.
For example, the reveal of little Sam's (Kadan Rockett) bruised body isn't as shocking having already seen it in the
trailer, but it's intercut with one of Jesse's (Dakota Goyo) encounters, laying the groundwork for that moment,
making it far more impactful
than it would have been on its own or if it had piggybacked another big scare.
