The
valley thatwe enter is a wide, rolling plain open to the horizons except for a fewscattered stands of pine.
At least now they
say thatwe can chellenge for the title itself.
Sometimes we get so caughtup in an in - town rivalry, or a big match against another school,
thatwe forget that the other team is really just like our kids.
They are entreaties to change our habits, to accept old or new norms, but they
presume thatwe are ultimately free to refuse the request.
The reason for this is
thatwe encourage community members who do not necessarily feel confident referring to themselves as STEM professionals, but still have an interest in supportingSTEM learning, to play a role in our initiative.
Again, it's like project - based learning.It's one thing to learn these things in theabstract, but it's another thing when youare sitting in the middle of an argument.They learn in a very practical
way thatwe're not going to get anywhere unlesswe readjust our relationships.
The real challenge is going to be when there's an awareness of — an awakening to — the
fact thatwe've created a set of standards that only a third of our kids can meet.
I would like to
mention thatwe have stayed in many houses over the past 10 years and would probably rate this as the most luxurious property we have stayed at.
The current state of provision is so
bad thatwe have what Iwould call a «target rich environment».
