How many times have I seen a bathroom, public or private, that has great white or cream subway type tile and
then accent tile that totally dates it, either by color or design.

To break up the warm tones, we
then added a little drama with dark herringbone Fireclay
tile and black styling
accents.
I think replacing the floor
tile with hexagonal white with black
accents would look good and you could
then take out the pink trim that frames the bottom part of the walls and add new trim there.
You could leave the floor or change out that
tile for the white hexagon
tiles with black
accents and
then decorate similar to the other photos you listed.
We used a 4 × 12 white subway
tile and
then a 4 × 6 glass subway
tile to create an
accent strip and tie it to the sink area.
For the home with bold attitude and plenty of black or dark gray
accents, consider swapping every other
tile with a dark one, and
then adding artsy medallions to the border.
