If we are buying only 2 more players we need 2 world class players - but then which world class player is going to come to Arsenal?
This is an incredibly difficult question to answer for a variety of reasons, most importantly because over the years our once vaunted «beautiful» style of play has become a shadow of it's former self, only to be replaced by a less than stellar «plug and play» mentality where players play out of position and adjustments / substitutions are rarely forthcoming before the 75th minute... if you look at our current players, very few would make sense in the traditional Wengerian system... at present, we don't have the personnel to move the ball quickly from deep - lying position, efficient one touch midfielders that can make the necessary through balls or the disciplined and pacey forwards to stretch defences into wide positions, without the aid of the backs coming up into the final 3rd, so that we can attack the defensive lanes in the same clinical fashion we did years ago... on this current squad, we have only 1 central defender on staf, Mustafi, who seems to have any prowess in the offensive zone or who can even pass two zones through so that we can advance play quickly out of our own end (I have seen some inklings that suggest Holding might have some offensive qualities but too early to tell)... unfortunately Mustafi has a tendency to get himself in trouble when he gets overly aggressive on the ball... from our backs out wide, we've seen pace from the likes of Bellerin and Gibbs and the spirited albeit offensively stunted play of Monreal, but none of these players possess the skill - set required in the offensive zone for the new Wenger scheme which requires deft touches, timely runs to the baseline and consistent crossing, especially when Giroud was playing and his ratio of scored goals per clear chances was relatively low (better last year though)... obviously I like Bellerin's future prospects, as you can't teach pace, but I do worry that he regressed last season, which was obvious to Wenger because there was no way he would have used Ox as the right side wing - back so often knowing that Barcelona could come calling in the off - season, if he thought otherwise... as for our midfielders, not a single one, minus the more confident Xhaka I watched played for the Swiss national team a couple years ago, who truly makes sense under the traditional Wenger model... Ramsey holds onto the ball too long, gives the ball away cheaply far too often and abandons his defensive responsibilities on a regular basis (doesn't score enough recently to justify): that being said, I've always thought he does possess a little something special, unfortunately he thinks so too... Xhaka is a little too slow to ever boss the midfield and he tends to telegraph his one true strength, his long ball play: although I must admit he did get a bit better during some points in the latter part of last season... it always made me wonder why whenever he played with Coq Wenger always seemed to play Francis in a more advanced role on the pitch... as for Coq, he is way too reckless at the wrong times and has exhibited little offensive prowess yet finds himself in and around the box far too often... let's face it Wenger was ready to throw him in the trash heap when injuries forced him to use Francis and then he had the nerve to act like this was all part of a bigger Wenger constructed plan... he like Ramsey, Xhaka and Elneny don't offer the skills necessary to satisfy the quick transitory nature of our old offensive scheme or the stout defensive mindset needed to protect the defensive zone so that our offensive players can remain aggressive in the final third... on the front end, we have Ozil, a player of immense skill but stunted by his physical demeanor that tends to offend, the fact that he's been played out of position far too many times since arriving and that the players in front of him, minus Sanchez, make little to no sense considering what he has to offer (especially Giroud); just think about the quick counter-attack offence in Real or the space and protection he receives in the German National team's midfield, where teams couldn't afford to focus too heavily on one individual... this player was a passing «specialist» long before he arrived in North London, so only an arrogant or ignorant individual would try to reinvent the wheel and / or not surround such a talent with the necessary components... in regards to Ox, Walcott and Welbeck, although they all possess serious talents I see them in large part as headless chickens who are on the injury table too much, lack the necessary first - touch and / or lack the finishing flair to warrant their inclusion in a regular starting eleven; I would say that, of the 3, Ox showed the most upside once we went to a back 3, but even he became a bit too consumed by his pending contract talks before the season ended and that concerned me a bit... if I had to choose one of those 3 players to stay on it would be Ox due to his potential as a plausible alternative to Bellerin in that wing - back position should we continue to use that formation... in Sanchez, we get one of the most committed skill players we've seen on this squad for some years but that could all change soon, if it hasn't already of course... strangely enough, even he doesn't make sense given the constructs of the original Wenger offensive model because he holds onto the ball too long and he will give the ball up a little too often in the offensive zone... a fact that is largely forgotten due to his infectious energy and the fact that the numbers he has achieved seem to justify the means... finally, and in many ways most crucially, Giroud, there is nothing about this team or the offensive system that Wenger has traditionally employed that would even suggest such a player would make sense as a starter... too slow, too inefficient and way too easily dispossessed... once again, I think he has some special skills and, at times, has showed some world - class qualities but he's lack of mobility is an albatross around the necks of our offence... so when you ask who would be our best starting 11, I don't have a clue because of the 5 or 6 players that truly deserve a place in this side, 1 just arrived, 3 aren't under contract beyond 2018 and the other was just sold to Juve... man, this is theraputic because following this team is like an addiction to heroin without the benefits
We're going to waste time and money on a CB when we should be looking for a top class DM.If Wenger think signing another CB is solving our problems then he's lying to himself.Mark my words any other CB we sign no matter how good will still come and add to a shaky defense. The problem with our defenfing is more of tactical and mental.Tactical because we play without a DM, we mark and track players poorly, the fullbacks are usually isolated leaving them to cope alone, our passing is not good enough leaving us exposed to counters which we aren't prepared for and no leadership and maintenance of defensive shape.
Wenger put ozil on the wing for his development one thing i do nt get is how the fans do nt see that Wenger done the same process with Wilshere, I remember when Monreal was caught out at the back post from a set piece and ozil did nt cover he just jogged abit n let monreal get beat, that would be video evidence for Ozil to learn and work on his duty to defend instead of giving him Candy like a baby n letting him be lazy in the middle not tracking back for the team its a learning process im 100 % Wenger knows ozils best position is in the centre he followed him since Shalke its obvious but Wenger develops players into world class after seeing Ozil in the world cup and coming back after the world cup i coud see he defended alot more helping out monreal on the flanks and putting in alot more effort only then once hes showed his duty in defending will he be given his free role in the middle.
his hold up play is so good that he allows the defenders to come to him, he beats them with skill and pure pace and then pires or ljunberg is already awaiting the pass... that is world class, strikers like henry etoo Ronaldo drogba, even lewnadoski and co have learnt to drift to any direction or wing so as to pull defenders away from the box and create space for other mates..

If we sign Paulista, a Wenger has got to realise we must sign a top class defensive midfielder in the summer, I'd personally get rid of Arteta and Flamini and let Diaby's contract run down, get rid of them because they're deadwood and have Coquelin and a new top DM battling it out for a place and then have Bielik coming through.
If wenger can manage to convince more top draw players to come in the next few years and that is all the better, and the new guy only needs to make world class additions from then on in instead of having to replace a lot of aging / injury prone players in one hit.
we need a top striker no matter what... even if we have to make a robot or kidnap a good one, we need a top forward... we need an energetic, fast, flexible, killer striker... if these doesn't happen then the first signing we should make come 2015 - 16 is a new top class manager who understands what building a top side means!!!
Yea Barcelona are beatable and they will get beat and yes they have a world class attack but so dose others its all about the game plan you block the midfield and man mark you minimize the lose Arsenal were sloppy for a goal and the first goal was offside the attack started buy playing the ball out wide that very insistent he was offside but play was moved back in the middle and then the goal came i remember their manager was laughing and pointed it out to his assistance I was looking for replays to double check but cant find any I am looking forward for barca loosing just so i get back onto their supporters

not to me — spen cash on players that aren't up to our standard is saying we give up and accept we can not sign a true world class star... then we are told we can, but have too many faces and salary and will have to be patient, then 7th place Utd come in and buy proper players and our cycle begins again.
Thats why he does nt buy World class players, bec he is incapable to use them to the fullest, and his flaws and bad managmend comes to shine and people do realize then that he is nothing more then a 4th place manager.

The only closest player to Cazorla in terms of technical ability and intelligence is Jack Wilshere yet people want him sold because he's not world class as if those playing there are world class.I hope Wilshere is given the opportunity to challenge for the CM because with a run of games I believe he can put in better performances than Ramsey and Xhaka.Wilshere is a very intelligent player who can vary his game to play with anyone in the centre.I also hope Cazorla comes back quickly. We need the Coqzorla partnership back again.Xhaka won't stand the test of time in this Arsenal lineup because if he's a CM then he's not doing enough or if he's a DM he can't defend. He'll be surpsssed in the future unless Wenger continues to do him a favour like he's already doing. He's a massivel overrated player and it's debatable if he's the kind of player we needed in the first place before signing him.
Placing Ox on the left side... another classic Wenger positional switcheroo... for the love of god can anyone tell me one positive that has come as a result of Wenger playing guys out of position in the last 6 or 7 years... I'll tell you, Cazorla playing a little deeper than he previously had and Ox last year as the right - side wing - back... he can't pass properly on the left and he is far more ineffective driving to the end line... the manager needs to make the tough decisions, either you play Bellerin or Ox on the right and the other becomes the back - up, get rid of one of the two or get rid of both of them and buy a top - class player who would be an everyday starter then develop a younger player behind him... no wonder he wants to leave... square peg into a round hole (same old, same old)
Hopefully by then he'd be performing well enough to still be world class coming off the wing
1) IF Sanchez leaves, then get Bale and Lacazette as Replacement, it would be would class signings, Because madrid may get Mbappe, But if i were Mbappe i would watch and see what happened to James Rodriguez and one time World Most Expensive player Bale 2) Arsenal can also sell Bellerin for # 50 - 55 millon or much lees with Ardan Turan as part of the deal and get Sidibe or Any very young Versertile Right wing back 3) Sell Sanchez if he won't agree to a new Deal, Convince Bale to come to Arsenal, pay # 80 - 90 mill for Bale on 300k a week, get Lacazette too, and if Ardan Turan comes, we will have a solid Attack 3.4.2.1 Lacazette ozil, Bale Kolasoniac, Xhaka, Ramsey / Turan, Sidibe / ox Holding, Boss, Mustafi 4.2.1.3 Ardan, Lacazette, Bale Ozil, Xhaka Ramsey Koslanic,, BOss, Mustafi, Sidibe
If by you never know you mean we have a chance of winning the league then I've got news for you, Wenger is still our manager he doesn't have a great league winning record, he came to Arsenal in 96 we had 10 league titles Man United also had 10 league titles in the 20 years with Wenger we've only added 3 titles to make it 13 while Man United have added 11 to take their tally to 21, Wenger averages a league title in every 6.7 years that's not a great record for a so - called world class manager who earns # 8m pounds annually!
That's where the definition of world class comes in, players that drag their teams to scrappy wins like suarez scoring 2 free kicks in a match when he was at Liverpool, he dragged them most times then, like Messi does for barca, like hazard did for Chelsea seasons ago and he still does sometimes, that is what makes them legends, standing out and producing special moments that will be printed in our memories for life................
If Arsenal manage to keep Sanchez, Cazorla comes back fighting - fit, and Monreal keeps his good form up, then Arsenal could field a title - challenging first - eleven by adding just a couple of players (One of which has to be a 1st - class striker).
If you want to talk mediocrity look at other teams other then Man U even Chelsea and you will understand what mediocrity is Morons like you will never appreciate what Wenger has done for Arsenal football club Certainly more then the current plastic moronic fanbase at Arsenal I've been a season ticket holder since 1976 and this is the worst fanbase I have seen in that time BeforfNs start saying we pay top money my answer is don't come t the ground we don't need stupid fans better to have half empty stadium full of real fans then morons taking out their real frustrations of failure on the team Just ask spuds fans who seem to back their team even though they have only won 2 trophies in 30 years and only been in the cl 4 times as opposed to the cabinet Full of trophies that Wenger has delivered plus a new stadium and works class stars that have played for us in his tenure.
I hope you whisper when you say that.Secondly define what WC is because if you are trying to categorize these players with Messi, Ronalda, Yaya, Aguero, Fabregas and Co then i am afraid ONLY Sanchez even comes close to being world class
Coaches are paid to produce results on the pitch and yo win trophies for the team.If a coach fails those basic things then he is not go enough and must leave.Sucess or failure comes down to the decisions of the coach ranging from decisions in the transfer market, training methods, team selection, tactics etc.Looking @ the transfer market - Wenger has a shambolic record - failure to act decisively and always acting when it's too late, selling our top players to rival clubs, leaving other positions thin and reinforcing wrong positions especially buying lots of attacking midfielders ignoring defensive positions and failing to buy top class strikers or decent strikers. If Wenger is really serious about winning trophies would he buy a player like Welbeck a fourth choice play at Man United whom Vaan Gaal said is only good for the bench and now he plays every game at Arsenal. Why sell Vemaleen and buy Chambers?
For example, a world class player like Sergio Aguero becomes available, we weren't even linked with him, he has a blinder of a debut for man city and then Wenger comes out and says that he'd be willing to spend 30 - 40 million a player.
