White theologians reflected on the meaning
of God's presence in the world from the
time of the Exodus to the civil rights revolution and never once made a sustained
theological connection between these two liberation
events.
In
times when other forces determine the interpretations
of events, nature, human life and what have you, more than religious ones do, it is, in my view, a temptation to find philosophical,
theological and ethical positions that can disengage Christians from intentional interactions with alternatives.
