As a first year seminary student and an avid lover of all things Christmas, I've had the pleasure of learning a number of
things about the birth of Jesus that I found too beautiful not to share.
The best
thing about the birth plan, is the conversation that the woman will have with her care provider leading to the birth, which will help the woman to understand what are her care providers boundaries and protocols.
Today, the best
thing about birth plans is that you have to become knowledgeable about birth to write one.
One great
thing about birth balls is that they are very affordable.

As an adopting parent, I have heard and read
things about the birth parents that concern me about my safety and my child's safety.

I actually had more fears after the
birth about things like SIDS.
What makes me happy
about this whole «orgasmic childbirth»
thing is that 1) it will open more women's eyes to the benefits of home
birth, and 2) it will, as you said, create the atmosphere that
birth doesn't necessarily have to be painful.
Education during pregnancy rarely has anything serious to do with breastfeeding, and since breastfeeding is perceived by most pre-parenthood women to be a natural, instinctive
thing instead of a learned behavior (on both mom & baby's part) if it doesn't go absolutely perfectly from the first moments they may feel something is wrong with THEM and clam up
about it while quietly giving the baby the hospital - offered bottle along with the bag of formula samples they give out «just in case» even if you explicitly tell them you're breastfeeding (which was my experience with my firstborn in 2004 and one of the many highly informed reasons I chose to
birth my next two at home).
I've had 3 kids and I've nursed all of them from
birth till 2 years old, so I know a
thing or two
about nursing bras.
Still, even though I'd looked into tons of
things related to unmedicated
births and the differences between midwifery care and conventional OB - GYN care, there were lots of subtle differences in how my midwives talked
about and approached
birth that I had to give
birth in order to truly and fully understand.
In addition to getting to know each other over the course of the mom's pregnancy — learning
about her hopes, fears, and wants for her
birth experience — home birthing moms also have
birth plans to clarify
things like which post-
birth procedures the family does and doesn't want (like vitamin K shot, eye ointment, etc.), and preferred hospitals and care providers to call in case of transfer.
That made sense in light of some of the
things my midwife told me
about my home
birth that were (thankfully) true.
Meanwhile, we're working on our next film — due for launch in 2018, all

birth onwards to establish, maintain, protect and restore the microbiome for optimal human health.

about having a low milk supply, being a working mom on top of caring for a newborn, having D - MER, and the millions of other
things that would affect my life after giving

The empowering
things my non-mom friends said
about my home
birth more than made up for some of the other comments I heard from time to time.
The
thing that I loved most
about my
birth experience was having a team of midwives and a doula.
The great
thing about a water
birth is that the baby is clean.
The wonderful
thing about breastfeeding as
birth control is that it gives a new mom a nice long window before she needs to worry
about other options.
One good
thing about a home
birth: she'll be able to choose exactly when to make her first appearance after the
birth.
My doubt
about the status of our baby clothes has to do several
things, including that we don't know this baby's gender (we'll be surprised and find out at the
birth) and that our baby girl clothes were last viewed in 2009 (when we had a baby girl).
So when you give
birth to your little bundle of joy, take a moment to really soak in motherhood and then think
about all of the
things happening in your body right at that moment.
The really nice
thing about a home
birth is that you are already there, in the space you were going to be doing your earliest child - rearing anyway.
They forgot
about the oxytocin... My vaginal
birth not having messed
things up (and the pitocin having even increased my natural levels... shh don't tell anyone), I was able to chill out and send the occasional text message without the usual fight or flight response caused by texting while I get on the freeway (wait a minute, I thought fight or flight was the response caused in all the other drivers when they see you texting).
Just saw a post on the Mayo Clinic website written by CNM / RN who said among other
things «water
birth doesn't increase the risk of infection» and she talks
about the dive reflex.

When Elaine June is asked
about your
birth, she tells people three
things: she watched movies all night, she saw you born, and she got to cut the cord.
The
thing I never understood
about waterbirth (I mean, aside from wanting to sit in tepid bloody poop water) is that the NCB people are always talking
about how giving
birth on your back is so unnatural and etc. and yet there they are, on their backs in the tub.
Just think
about it: when you're pregnant, you can't drink, smoke, eat certain
things and more
things you can't do, but when it's time to give
birth it is suddenly ok to give the woman a bunch of drugs?
The only
thing that didn't impress me
about this
birth centre was the delivery room.
