BlackBerry wants to push beyond communications into
mobile computing, and eventually play a leading role
in the «Internet of
Things,» the term for a predicted revolution
in which many ordinary objects will be given
computing power.
It obviously includes wireless hardware / software / infrastructure / providers, communication, search, social networking, music & video streaming,
mobile gaming, cloud
computing, etc... and will ultimately move on to the Internet of
Things (IoT)(which most people,
in their daily lives, will experience primarily via wired homes & driver-less cars).
Multitouch user input is the current «latest big
thing»
in mobile computing.
When Android Wear debuted
in 2014 (a year before Apple Watch was even a
thing), it seemed like the natural progression of
mobile computing as people transitioned from laptops to smartphones to even smaller devices.
With Google offering an end - to - end experience built around the Google Assistant, and Apple maintaining its air of luxury
in the consumer mind, the next big
thing to happen to
mobile computing is going to have to really blow us away.
