One of the most wonderful
things about functional medicine is applying research findings clinically with often amazing results.

That is one of the
things I love
about functional medicine.
I always like asking people who've spent more than a decade working with
functional medicine and complementary
medicine because you have a menu of
things that you know
about that's unusual even in complementary
medicine.
So we have like the big picture perspective, so people don't forget what the root causal
things that can't be ignored are, and then we'll also talk
about you know, palliative
things we can do on top of just the — the
functional medicine principal stuff to get even better results.
So if you're having an issue, you're tweaking the diet, you're listening and you're applying all the
things we're talking
about, the next step would be the
functional medicine component where we, you know, look underneath those rocks and see what's there.
So depending on where you're at, if you're having issues and you've already kind of ruled out the
things we've already talked
about on the diet and lifestyle, the next step would be to step it up regarding the
functional medicine's options that are available and kind of our — our palette if you will.
Dr. Justin Marchegiani: We wan na get on board with the
functional medicine coach / doctor that can get to the root issues because the nice
thing about blood pressure, it's easy to monitor.
And the
thing is, one of the
things in
functional medicine that I think I can take a lead on because it's not talked
about enough is that we need to wear protection from blue light during the day when we're inside.
This is something I see often with the women I work with through FLO Living, we will be in the process of working on her health issue from a
functional medicine standpoint and eventually we'll organically reach a point of discussing her life, her past experiences, her feelings
about herself, and
about the
things that have happened to her.
In general, and there are outliers to this of course, it's probably like a bell curve, but the middle of the bell curve
functional medicine doctor cares
about doing the right
thing, really wants their patients to get better, is trying to learn to be a better physician, and is just probably a better clinician than a business person and so hasn't been able to develop like a scalable practice where they could see where they couldn't deliver value outside of just sitting across from someone and just working with them.
You don't even need lab tests to get these
things done but a good
functional medicine doctor will extract this info and it's very telling
about the underlying hormonal system, gut infections, etc..
