I've encountered a lab that stored its results on paper for a year and then transfered the paper to microfiche
of all
things for archiving, because that's the way it's always been done, and they needed to clear
out the paper
storage space by shredding the old material.
Among other
things in this mess is that it knocks the wind
out of economics
of storage ie pumped hydro that would previously have turned a dollar (or Euro) by supplying peak demand.
Storage is Still # 1
Thing to Figure
Out While this high electricity generation from a very clean source is great news, it is also a good reminder that intermittent and variable sources
of power pose a great challenge to the grid.
The stairs act as
storage, hiding a multitude
of things, including a pull -
out table and kitty litter box.
But, unlike those environmentalists in wealthy countries who denounce the modern world while enjoying its blessings, the ecomodernists recognize that, though with today's technology it is impossible to lift the world's poorest
out of poverty without destroying the environment, with the technologies
of the future — next - generation nuclear and solar power, carbon capture and
storage, high - intensity agriculture and aquaculture, and others — all
things are possible.
At that time, Google's Chromebook Pixel C was the closest
thing Android had to a pro tablet (even if it lacked stylus support and maxed
out at 64 GB
of storage).
In defense
of the Essential Phone, it's markedly cheaper at as low as $ 449 in the US, complete with Android Oreo 8.1, the same Snapdragon 835 chipset and 4 GB RAM count, a futuristic notch (if that's your
thing), and a solid 128 GB
of internal
storage out of the box.
Obviously, the high - performance processor and abundance
of RAM help
out with that, but little
things under the hood like UFS 2.1
storage and the all new Mali - G71 GPU help the phone feel incredibly quick.
The whole
thing's powered by the 64 - bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor (unsurprisingly eschewing its own HiSilicon chip that we've seen in the P8 proper), comes with 2 gigabytes
of RAM and maxes
out at 16 GB
of on - board
storage.
If you take a quick look at the two phones» specs, the first
thing that jumps
out is the OnePlus 5 has the same amount
of storage, the same processor and even more RAM than the Galaxy S8, even though it costs significantly less.
Another
thing to point
out is that the clock speed
of the Core i5 wasn't given, nor did the listing say if the three different
storage configurations have any other differences.
The only
thing to keep in mind is that with only 16 GB
of storage, you're apt to run
out of space quickly.
3 GB
of RAM and 32 GB
of internal
storage rounds
things out.
