Tales of Hearts R is closer to what longtime fans expect from the franchise, and it's a shame that it's taken so long for us to get it here (and if you
think piracy doesn't hurt anyone, that's the main reason we never got this
game — along with several other Japanese DS standouts — in the West).
The last
Tales game I played was Symphonia on GameCube but after reading this, I
think I should get back into the series.
I never expected a God of War
game to provide anything but hours of unbridled vengeance but this
tale is filled with
thought - provoking themes and a complex father - son relationship that are an absolute joy to experience.

think when a lot of
gamers think of RPGs from Japan, the first image that pops up is something along the lines of Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, or Namco's
Tales series.

think it hard to expand on the Spartan's story by now but the
game actually strikes an immediate chord with long - time fans by telling the
tale of Kratos» long lost brother, Deimos.

PlayStationing were recently given a quick look at the first 40 or so minutes of
Tales of Hearts R on the PlayStation Vita, so we
thought we'd do a quick preview on the
game.
To be fair,
Tale of
Tales developers
thought their
games were «art», but failed to understand that a nice looking
game, or a beautiful painting doesn't make it art.
If you haven't played an Ys
game before,
think of a standard Action RPG combat system like Star Ocean,
Tales of, or even the more recent Final Fantasy XV.
It's a
game that has obviously had a lot of
thought put into making it feel authentic to the Tarahumara beliefs and ideals and you can see the incredible effort that has been made to bring the North Mexican folk
tales, myths and legends to life.
I
think much of the consensus about CoL is correct: the
game is good, almost unique — a side - scrolling homage to classic JRPGs, set in a fairy -
tale world — and an aesthetic feast.
I'm
thinking of a
game that's based on worldwide folk stories / fairy
tales where Mario can collect different power - ups based on them, whether it's mythical Japanese creatures, Dracula, ect.
What about Monster
tale that was a good ds
game and no one
thought of adding Ellie and chomp they would work similar to Rosalina and luma but with different moves
Other than
Tales of Abyss, I personally
think the Symphonia
games have the best characters in the series.
I'm not going to say whether or not I feel people are justified in those complaints, but I
think that anyone who plays Namco's latest port of
Tales of Phantasia [Free] is going to walk away with some new perspective on what exactly breaking a
game entails.
I'm generally more of a fan of turn - based battle systems (as evidenced by the
games we've made), but so far, I
think Tales of Xillia may be my favorite RPG this year.
Listening to the music I
think about Zelda, Macross Plus (of all things), and I feel like I am playing Star Ocean, Dark Cloud, Shadow of the Colossus, Final Fantasies or the
Tales games all over again for the first time.
While Lucky still makes me
think of Conker and how I would like to see a new
game in the franchise, Super Lucky's
Tale managed to impress.
I
think it works better in
games where system limitations are obviously present but if developers can find a way around it they should go with something more real time... Anyhow, this
game would have been a lot better if it played a bit similar to how
Tales of battle system works.
This time, The Gamesmen talk about Frontier trademarking Elite: Deadly,
Tales of Zestiria coming to PC, the world video
game hall of fame, TwitchCon, a guy with rage issues, the iOS
game Dreeps, Tim Sweeney's
thoughts on VR, and Nintendo's supply constraints.
What looks like a cartoony
game quickly revealed a
thought provoking, touching, and well - written
tale.
It's a very meta sort of move, and I
think it's been there since the early SNES
game (and even the
Tales of Phantasia
game that it kind of spun off from).
I'd like to
think challenges in
games are, you know, challenges, and the protagonists of the
tales are not always super confident things will go okay.
