I question is Unity
thinks that the
Unreal Engine is just to advance for their company to compete, and selling is a easy scapegoat.
I do
think their new
engine looks good and I know a lot of companies use the
Unreal engine, but I've always hated that fact because of its limitations.

I would have liked to have seen the new technology in action, but I
think Epic has already squeezed every bit of power out of the Xbox 360, and it's not like the
Unreal Engine 3 looks like it's from the NES days.
And while there are a lot of visually spectacular games coming out this year, I don't
think any will top Gears in that department, except maybe Mass Effect (which, coincidentally, is also based off of
Unreal Engine 3).
With good reason, I
think — this came out at about the same time as
Unreal and Half Life, which had better graphics,
engines that ran smoother, and just offered a more polished experience overall.
Mr. Ninja Theory himself, Tameem Antoniades, revealed to Destructoid that yes, a CG version of Enslaved, which would have used the
Unreal Engine to power the movie, was pitched to every film company they could
think of..
Funnily enough, I still don't believe this game is an Unity
Engine game (it's simply gorgeous by the way, proving that Unity is just misused), still occasionally
thinking it's running on
Unreal Engine 4, the art and detail in this game, especially for the size of the development team is second to none really.

think of
Unreal Engine 3 as requiring the performance and capabilities of Direct X 9 but advised that demos running UE3 with enhanced specs, a la Samaritan and 1313, require DX9 performance but DX11 shader capabilities.
