We OTs love getting kids to work on vertical surfaces (
think: easel or
chalkboard) because of how it forces them to bend their wrists back (called «extension»)
as they play, something that is critical for good handwriting skills.
As I was writing on the board, my daughter told me she

think you are talking about a blackboard /
chalkboard surface
as opposed to a Chalkpaint ie flat milk like paint not meant for writing on with chalk but
as a flat finish on furniture.
