I think of black denim, Audrey Hepburn immediately comes to mind.

As far as the rest
of the outfit goes, I didn't know how I would feel about the contrast between the
black top and sandals and the light wash
denim, but I
think the combination really works.
While I
think denim overalls are such a classic, I love the look
of these
black ones.
I'm
thinking I'm going to wear a pair
of black denim.
I almost didn't go for
black boots because I didn't want them to look out
of place with the ivory sweater and light wash
denim, but I
think the natural wood heel helps them not look so heavy.
When I
think of denim and plaid, I see images
of the Brawny Woman -LCB- who replaced the Brawny Man earlier this year to commemorate Women's History Month -RCB-, decked out in her red and
black plaid shirt and
denim jeans.
3 — Classic
Denim Styles — I
think everyone needs a
black and a blue pair
of jeans.
Side note: I've had these jeans for a few years now and am
thinking about getting another pair
of black distressed
denim since I wear them so much.
Judging by what was out
of stock at the store, I
think the pieces that will sell out fast will be the following: Alice + Olivia blazer, Rag & Bone shoe, and Frame
denim this cropped pair and this
black pair.
I
think the
black / gold trimmed buttons give this otherwise basic
denim jacket a little boost
of chicness!
For my mains, I ended up picking
black, cobalt blue, and navy — mostly because navy seemed like a better choice than light blue (
think dark wash
denim over light
denim) for my work wardrobe, which makes up 70 %
of my closet.
I also
think the
black blazer is a chic choice if you're working a street style outfit, as the formal look will contrast the material
of denim or leather.
I did my best to include the 3 styles that I
thought would wear the best with the other clothes I selected: a skinny
black denim, a distressed boyfriend style and
of course, my beloved flares.

I'm actually really into this super relaxed style
of denim right now, it's far from my comfort zone
of skinny
black jeans but I definitely
think after a few more wears I could be a
denim convert!
I have an awesome green /
black plaid I'm
thinking of using and (thanks to Caitlin's suggestion) might try them in some lightweight stretch
denim plus maybe a hundred other colors!
At Dress for the Date
think it's always safe to go with a pair
of dark blue or
black denim jeans.
