I think pure bred dogs get a bad rap in this department.

They are instead people / groups that are obtaining
pure bred, high demand
dogs from shelters, only to turn around and re-sell them at a profit to unsuspecting people who adopt the
dogs thinking they are getting them from a reputable rescue organization.
Some are professional working
dogs, others rescues,
pure breeds or mixed but we like to
think they're all family, and believe
dogs deserve nothing less than the best.
Thinking they are saving these
dogs, the public is increasingly backing laws banning sales of

bred commercially sourced
dogs, and permitting only sales from animal shelters and rescue groups.
A lot of people who
think they have

I know, after 40 years in animal welfare, that regulations that are well
thought out protect animals and facilitate commerce... I am especially interested in the challenge of
breeding pure -
bred dogs on a large scale with humane care standards that prioritize the care and conditions that matter most to the well being and lifetime care of the
dog.
Many moons ago, back in the day when no one
thought twice about buying
dogs in a pet store, and most people had never heard of a puppy mill, I bought my first
pure bred dog.
We must have much tighter controls over the puppy industry as a whole, if people must buy a
pure bred dog, then increase the price, honestly, I
think those of you in this business should really try to find a different line of work, to me you are profiting from the suffering of angels, these
dogs do not need or want to be
breeding machines, they want to be members of your family.
