thought I had purchased the
wheat berries, but must have dreamed it (easy to do with a toddler around!).
At first I
thought they looked like
wheat berries but I don't see those in the recipe.
And there's a commercially available Rejuvelac you can buy in many parts of the country and I
think they use
wheat berries.
I'm not sure I ever tried
wheat berries in my pre-gluten-free days, but I
think this would also be fabulous with sorghum which has a delicious chewy texture.
Hi Nava, just made a batch, but had to make some subs... no whole
wheat flour, so took 8 cups AP, added 2 cups bran and 3/4 cup germ no apple sauce, so I diced 2 medium sized Empire apples, and micro waved for 5 minutes, left the peel on, but
think next time might peel them regular cooking oil 3/4 each of blue
berries and rasp
berries..

think I can try this with
wheat berries.

think this salad would be yummy with lots of different grains (
wheat berries, millet, even brown / wild rice).

think sorghum has a sweet, nutty flavor and a hearty chew, what i imagine a caramelized
wheat berry must taste like (not that I have ever had one).
So,
think whole
wheat grains, fruits with naturally less sugar (
berries, grapefruits, limes, and lemons), and root vegetables like beets and yams.
My meals usually consists of oatmeal (with chia seeds, flax seeds, some nuts,
berries, almond milk some times), big bowls of salad (spinach, kale) with olive oil and vinegar dressing, beans (seasoned with herbs and all natural stuff), shredded
wheat cereal from Trader Joes (which I
think I should stop consuming actually), greek yogurt sometimes, butternut squash, and my guilty pleasure, this whole
wheat homemade bread my mom makes with flax seeds and nuts.
Believe it or not, I'd never bought farro because I
thought it was pretty much the same as
wheat berries (of which I seem to have an endless supply and do not love).
