woman, both?
At first I did
think that Floss had been raped by Bill (or somehow compromised) but it wasn't long into the book that I
figured out what really happened, especially since Floss mentioned that she
thought she was interested in
women rather than men.
She says that she identifies most with the character known simply as «the
woman» but finds Littlest the most interesting because, «Littlest reminds me of my own small grandchildren, and of all little ones whose heads are so full of
thoughts, and who are so curious and intent on
figuring out their place in the world.»
The words «Sri Lanka» have always summoned
thoughts of
