The
weapons,
though limited by overheating and
unlocking after a certain time, tend to cause more chaos than anything else and take away from the actual racing.
Though it's true power can only be
unlocked by collecting all the other
weapons in the Adventure Mode map.
Contracts are another highlight which allow you to
unlock additional
weapons, bonuses and star cards which makes the game feel more dynamic even
though they are similar to the challenge system.
But even
though the multiplayer gameplay itself is fun, the progression system and how you
unlock new
weapons / Star Cards is so frustrating I found it very hard to continue.
This videogame however, will always present the recommended loadout as well as planes
though the player can choose any plane or
weapon combination if they've
unlocked it.
Each time you level up one of the three classes you nab yourself an
unlock token that can be used to purchase any new attachment you want for that specific
weapon,
though it should be noted that attachments
unlocked for one gun don't carry over to the next.
Speaking of
weapons: the maximum class ranks have been moved upward from 10 to a whopping 50, which means more
unlock - able kill card options (
though I'm not sure there's many other benefits).
You can add modifications to all of your
weapons, unfortunately
though you can not re-use a modification until you have
unlocked a certain skill.
Eventually
though, the game turns into a terrible grind for experience to
unlock new
weapons that become less and less interesting the further you go.
Supply drops return, giving players with the means to purchase them a slightly better chance to get special
weapons and items than everyone else,
though now everyone can save up salvage, a new currency that one day will allow them to
unlock the
weapons and enhancements they've got their eye on as well.
As you progress through the game, your avatar — of which you
unlock a myriad of clothes for throughout,
though my Super Monkey Ball / Jet Set Radio hybrid monster below rarely changed — can handle different
weapons known as «Wispons», all of which add different skill sets to your creation and as such, they become especially handy throughout, with abilities ranging from being able to move at lightning fast speeds near rows of rings or enemies — never too far away -, granting temporary invincibility, digging through the ground and creating platforms.
Though you start out with only two
weapon types available, a handgun and a sub machine gun, many more can be
unlocked as you advance through the levels.
Actively using the
weapon will rapidly
unlock each skill, allowing you to freely experiment with different
weapon types (
though you're limited by your profession as to which
weapons you can use).
The upgrade and
unlock system is enjoyable,
though it could do with cash being a little less accessible to make it more satisfying when you finally get a chance to
unlock certain
weapons and all its upgrades.

though 10 epic levels, encountering a vast range of over 30 enemies and
unlocking countless new
weapon combinations!
Even
though enemies»
weapons are part of their DNI, you can
unlock the ability to pick up enemy
weapons which also gives the player the classic feel.
We're told players can pay to
unlock new guns,
though these won't be more powerful than the
weapons available for free.
In addition, each character can use any variation of arms (the name given for the
weapons), provided you
unlock them for that character first;
though each character starts with three special variants of arms.
The upgrade and
unlock system is enjoyable,
though it could do with cash being a little less accessible to make it more satisfying when you finally get a chance to
unlock certain
weapons and all its upgrades.
Many of these
unlock as your XP level rises,
though some — notably
weapon attachments and masks / mask customization items — only come from random Payday rewards that all players receive at the end of any successful job.
