I thought food holidays couldn't get anymore specific (hello national «eat your noodles» day and national cheese doodle day!)
Not exact matches
It's the
holidays, so whether it is a pumpkin or sweet potato pies, people are
thinking about
foods and desserts.
I can't
think of another
holiday where cooking outside is just about the only acceptable method of
food prep.
You would
think as a
food blogger I would know about these
holidays lol.
As the
holiday season begins I also
think about all the awesome hearty
food to cook.
OHHHH and
think of all the
holiday food you can top with it!?! Mashed potatoes, green beans, asparagus... yum!
And now that I'm
thinking about it, other Jewish
holidays have difficult
foods too!
In light of the
holiday, I
thought it would be fun to highlight some old
food photography of mine from 2010 when I last posted about Irish Soda Bread.

think this is what i love about
food the most: it's connection to people not only from one generation to the next, but to all cultures as well... the era, «before babies» and «after babies», what was happening in lives, etc., it's exactly the story behind the recipe itself... and now your children will pass it along to their children, telling the story about how you didn't even know it existed but it's a family favorite... i am doing a happy dance for you!!
With the
holidays approaching, it's time to start
thinking about fun
food to make for all the parties and get togethers with family and friends.
Naturally when I celebrate this
holiday I
think of the

think of — solely because of potatoes making me

food & when I was in Ireland they had homemade bread everywhere haha however, next year I'm going to make this soup to commemorate the day!
I would love to make all of the delicious dishes that I see on other
food blogs and all over Pinterest, but that is just not practical, let alone possible... so I
thought I would post some of my favorite healthy twists on the classic
holiday dishes — which is exactly what this post is.
I can't be the only one who
thinks there isn't going to be enough
food for our
holiday meals, can I?
But in that save - the - banana - peel moment, I
thought about how wasteful we can all be with
food, especially around the

We see the
holidays looming in the near future and
thoughts of the gifts that have to be bought, the parties that we must attend and the
food that must be prepared can become overwhelming.
I originally
thought this was a good thing, not realizing that the
holiday events would always involve
food and that they'd literally put up a sign - up list requesting a lot of junk
food and a few token «healthy» items like veggies and fruit.
I
think giving our kids heaps of junk
food at Easter (and other
holidays) sets a precedent that associates celebrations with unhealthy
foods.
Overall, I would do this again to help motivate me to get back to eating healthy
foods after weeks of
holiday overindulgence, but I don't
think I would call it a detox as much as I would call it a nutritious diet restart.
Eating around the
holidays can certainly be a great time to NSA it and indulge a bit more than usual - I
think the most important thing is to be present to the people you love and not sweat it if you're eating

Possibly the biggest mistake that people will make when going on
holiday or business trips is either eating far too few calories because they're out and about, not
thinking about their diet or eating the wrong types of
foods, resulting in fat gain and muscle loss.

thinking about the upcoming
holidays and navigating
food temptations and the challenges (not slacking off).
While I
think it misses its mark in this regard — there are plenty of adults, young and old, who have legitimate reasons for their specific dietary needs — this doesn't change the fact that tensions often run hot around
holiday food traditions, regardless of the reasoning.

Apparently, even though I follow
