That remains sorta incredible to me, considering that before I had children, I was completely skeeved out by
the thought of nursing a baby who had teeth!

I was starry - eyed at the
thought of one last little
baby to treasure, one last time to experience pregnancy, birth,
nursing, all
of it.
Every night, as I
nurse my boy in that cozy armchair in his nursery, I
think of the Syrian mama
nursing her
baby in a raft adrift in the Mediterranean Sea.
I did not have a bad opinion about mothers who
nursed for long time, but I
thought that I will be done by 12 months... Well our son didn't
think so;)... He
nursed exclusively and constantly until 8 months old, at this stage he would start accepting some
baby food (mind u, he was allways in the 95 %
of weight).

thinking about
nursing the two
of them.
Until the photo
of her glamorously
nursing her
baby causes no more fuss than the picture
of her glamorously looking into her
baby's face or glamorously sitting on a diner stool, then I
think the photo is very much needed.
Others said they felt less anxious about the birth, more confident about bringing up a child or encouraged in
thinking about what is important for the
baby, as a result
of their interaction with the Family
Nurse.
But if the
thought of a monochrome hospital room and rotating
nurses makes you long for your own cozy and familiar belongings — consider having your
baby at home.
Every time I walked into a maternity store, I saw huge sections full
of Medela
nursing products; rows
of nursing bras and fashions; special rooms for «
nursing moms»; breastmilk «test kits» in case a modern, socially active mom had one too many cocktails and still wanted to give her
baby the best nutrition;
baby and pregnancy magazines that consistently had cover stories on how breast is even better than we
thought before, and so on.
I don't
think either
of us relized how lopsided things had gotten since a lot
of it felt natural (i.e I did all
of the feedings since I was
nursing, which meant I was the one up at night which meant I did the sleep «training» which meant that I desparately read all the
baby books which meant I knew more when she got sick... you get the picture).
That means you're already
thinking about how to take care
of your child and how to potentially avoid any problem areas that might arise from
nursing after eating something that could be harmful to your
baby.
Of course, I want to be a good role model to her in every area, but when it comes up, I talk to her about how she
nursed (and I
think she still vaguely remembers it) and we talk about how I'm going to
nurse the
baby when he / she comes.

I was sitting in my living cheering at the TV... that woman will
nurse her
baby anywhere and I
think we need to see more
of that on TV and in the media so everyone pulls their heads out and realizes
babies need to eat too!

nursing your
baby is not as easy as you
thought it would be, there's no need to worry.
And there is no good reason to
think that the advice would be any different for a
baby who is drinking formula instead
of nursing.
And while you would
think that keeping up with enough milk production for each
baby would be the hard part, as with most aspects
of caring for twins, your biggest problem is often having enough time to
nurse and get other things done.
I would
think in first couple days the small amount
of colosyrom is what they need but if not I would
think the
nurses would see and give
baby needed formula.
This article has increase my awareness
of how vital it is that
babies get milk but also be supplemented when they show signs that they are starving... My
baby (now 9 yrs old but struggles with math) cried the first 48 hours and I know she was starving but thank goodness the
nurses told me to supplement her with a feeding tube and formula she had lost 1 pound and I was very nervous to
think that she wasn't getting enough milk since my colostrum hadn't even come in after day three!
If you
think something is wrong, push on those doctors and
nurses as hard as you can to make sure, until you feel that you're being taken care
of, that
baby's being taken care
of.
One
think that may help is to reiterate that it's such a short period
of time when they are exclusively
nursing; if you plan to go back to work they can help give a bottle
of pumped milk, and by 4 - 6 months the
baby can start solids and they can help with feeding some
of the first Foods.
If a mom is feeling stressed out about a life changing event such as a separation or divorce, just the mere presence
of these
thoughts in her mind while
nursing her
baby could slow her let - down reflex.
It turned out okay only because I realized he was too hot, but
babies often feel hot and I wouldn't fault any parent who didn't catch it... AND during that time in the NICU, I got another visit from the lactation consultant who told me again his latch was great, and then suggested I not give him all
of the formula the NICU
nurses had set out for me!!!! She actually said, «I don't
think you need to give him all
of that.
If your
baby is fussy after
nursing, a well - meaning friend or family member may suggest offering a bottle
of pumped milk or formula and then
think it is proof that your milk supply is insufficient if
baby takes the bottle.
Apparently, there had been a streak
of girls born at the hospital and all the
nurses thought the
baby would be a girl.
If you are a
nursing mom that is giving a bottle
of expressed milk, it's key to pace the feeding so that the
baby doesn't chug it down quickly and
think they are still hungry.
And she started posting some stuff I
think on Instagram
of her in these yoga poses and while her toddler
baby is
nursing.
I
think for me the con was just when I was
nursing my girls and sometimes we did tandem
nursing, I wasn't one
of those who could do
nursing while
baby wearing so I would end up taking one out and there was a lot
of transferring.
If your
baby is gassy, maybe has greenish stools and you
think you have a lot
of milk, try
nursing him twice or more from the same breast before switching.

I
think that every hospital should have someone with proper knowledge about
nursing who sees all new moms and
babies, as I
think that many
of the problems new mothers encounter begin in hospital.
(The same thing can happen when you merely
think of your
baby nursing or hear his cries.)
I don't want to have to supplement with formula, but on top
of my milk supply decreasing I
think my
baby is on a»
nursing strike» as well.
One
of the
nurses came in and
thought of a pose to get
baby off my cervix called the downward dog.
There is no rush to figuring what clothing works best for you or what makes you feel the most comfortable feeding your
baby out and about, but I don't
think an entire line
of nursing clothes is necessary, just like I don't
think a beautiful quilt or the perfect paint color are necessary.
Miffed by a societal norm that perpetuates the idea that women who
nurse their
babies should do so in hiding, I've
thought of a few things you actually don't have to do when breastfeeding in public.
Ask all
of the questions you can
think of about your
baby's care and condition, and get to know the doctors and
nurses caring for your
baby.
That extra step
of thinking about it is designed to make the intelligent
nurses (and I agree, not all are)
think about whether the formula is the right step for this mother -
baby dyad.
I'm a real proponent
of nursing in public (I
think the more people see women
nursing their
babies out in public the more normal it will become and the less stressful it will be for women who need to feed their
babies while they're outside) but I try to do it as discreetly as possible.
I
think Alot
of woman are jealous because they did not or chose not to
nurse their
baby.
So happy
nursing worked out with this
baby but l was a little dismayed that my own mother doesn't support me I was telling her about his resent
nursing strike because
of teething and she says» so your finally gonna give this up» I was like no mom I'm not you would
think she would be more supportive when my first has so many allergies and severe eczema so it is especially beneficial for this little guy to hopefully avoid all that
You may
think that all breastfeeding does for you is make your nipples sore (that only lasts a couple
of weeks), but
nursing your
baby can give you better health.
I put a lot
of pressure on myself because I
thought nursing had to start with the
baby directly
nursing.
You would
think that a hospital that is supposed to encourage mothers
nursing their
babies would be supportive
of staff members doing so.

think that [the box] itself is going to stop infant sleep - related deaths, but it's a way for us to give parents the education and tools to make that less likely, [and to] help them succeed!»

of nursing a
baby longer i always wonder if they truly love there
baby or care more about what people
think.
All because a bunch
of new - age mid-wify lactation experts
think having your
baby in a pile
of dry leaves and
nursing from your breast means they will be impenetrable to any disease or hardship.
Parents typically get very excited to go
baby products shopping, and they
think about what kind
of bed sheets, crib,
baby stroller,
nursing bottles,...

think I have regulated about 3, 4 months but at that point you know I
think I did continue to have the oversupply and the overactive letdown but as you know we we're talking about we'd learned how to deal, how to manage and as you know our
babies grow it's kind
of better for them that they can take it so much and you know 5 minutes and sleep we're done
nursing and that's it and you got all your nutrients your ready to go

of my challengers was actually more related to the hospital, Kaiser's a very
baby friendly hospital but they had a very busy postpartum department while I was there and getting the help that we needed and so delaying feedings because I was trying to get a
nurse to come and help me figure out what is going on and like I said I
think it disrupted the flow
of what naturally should have been going on and like I said just the funny not latching, refusing to lay a certain way and we needed to get some help with that.
