Writing this review was a bit strange for me, because unlike my regular style of just contextualizing
my thoughts after completing a game.

game has Japanese, English, French, Italian, German, and Spanish support - the Studiopolis stage is included due to receiving the most requests from the Sonic Mania development team - Iizuka actually considered reducing the amount of stages at one point in order to meet the development schedule - Sonic Mania doesn't really have much in the way of cut content like scrapped stages - since Sonic Mania was only distributed digitally, the team was able to continue working very close leading up to launch - this let them put in practically all ideas, and there are currently no plans for DLC - Iizuka recommended Flying Battery Zone for inclusion becaues he likes the music - he also likes when the player goes inside and outside the ship - Iizuka likes Mirage Saloon because the stage structure will be different depending on the player character chosen - Puyo Puyo gameplay was added because there was a Puyo Puyo
game released in the west for the SEGA Genesis - this
game was originally called «Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine», and the team
thought it would make a fun boss battle - Iizuka didn't have plans to feature Blue Sphere in the special stages - the Blue Sphere special stages were brought over to Mania as a test, but ended up staying for the final
game - the team felt the need to continuously connect stages from various eras, which is doe with the Phantom Ruby story - for Sonic Mania, it was decided that the technological limit would be set at SEGA CD, - this is higher than the Genesis but lower than Saturn - in creating a SEGA CD - grade special stage, they would intentionally make SEGA CD - grade polygons
I was DEEPLY worried thyat this
game would be a very... Mercury Steam experience, drawing less on the series» roots, going strictly for atmosphere or orchestral stings, requiring the balance of aeon that only replenishes if you manage to defeat enemies with entirely too much HP with the melee counter, randomly inserting Patrick Stewart as a new character while we discover that Samus was actually the Metroid Queen all along as a way to forsake and stand against the Galactic Federation that had cursed her to bounty hunting this whole time... I might be a bit bitter, and
think this studio
after it leaves Nintendo's guiding wing will return to
complete mediocrity.

After completing it's 2 hour,
thought - provoking campaign, I felt that the
game ended abruptly without explaining important story elements in further detail.
But just when you
think its
game over
after completing the campaign side of Forza Horzon 2,
think again.
After completing my XCOM 2 campaign and going back to Invisible Inc for a bit of mulling, I
think I've come to some conclusions about an important way the two
games differ, and how it reveals subtle problems with how procedural generation interacts with other
game systems.

After completing the opening of the critically acclaimed survival horror
game (and by opening, I mean when our faithful trio dwindles down to two adventurers) The Last of Us, I decided to offer my initial
thoughts.
When Diablo III was released, I
thought it was brilliant, but
after completing much of the
game I found myself wondering what else I should do apart from play through the long slog of the story again.
The only thing I can
think of that I would've done differently is to put both of The Dracula X Chronicles
games on the disc to be chosen between from the very beginning, and not
