At least if we catch a moi (
Pacific threadfin), we can eat it without having our heads cut off, formerly the fate of anyone without noble Hawaiian blood who dared eat this royal fish.
The research documented a connection between various human activities and declining numbers of fish, including Moi, a species (Polydactylus sexfilis)
of threadfin.
Target threadfin salmon, queenfish, giant trevally, mangrove jack, golden snapper, or barramundi.
One exception was this Butterflyfish, which I have yet to identify; it appears to be a cross between a vagabond and
threadfin butterfly.
