In the last post I told you I went
thrift shopping last week and shared one of my finds.
I've started looking for spring basics in black and white and found these two at
a thrift shop last week.
As I often do, I stopped at my favorite
Thrift Shop last week after getting my hair done.
Not exact matches
I have been
shopping at
thrift stores, consignment
shops and garage sales for at least the
last ten years.
That store is my kryptonite and truly the very
last retail store I
shop in, otherwise I
shop thrift, vintage or consignment.
The
last time I went vintage and
thrift store
shopping for clothing was about ten years ago when one of my best friend and I drove down to south street in Philadelphia and pretended to be hip.
Although it is totally accurate that at times I
shop from so called high - end retailers, I also
shop mainstream retail sales, final clearance racks,
last calls, estate sales, garage sales, swap parties, hand me downs, and
thrift / consignment stores.

thrift shopping spree I wrote about
last week.
It wasn't until
last month, that I finally
shopped my own stash and found this stripey blue fabric purchased from a local
thrift shop.
This week Jen at Fashionably Employed has been talking about being a conscious consumer and
shopping thrift stores, adding classic pieces that will
last many years, and learning more about where your clothes come from.
I said this for
last year's
thrift shop day post, but it's a great time to be a
thrift shopper.
Now, granted there wasn't a huge amount of vintage clothing stores there, but between those that there were, antique stores, and
thrifting (though I found almost no vintage at the 15 +
thrift stores we had time to hit - just two pairs of vintage gloves at the very
last one on the evening before we headed home), I was able to do some
shopping every day and still didn't get a chance to see everything I could have on that front (there were lots more
thrift stores and a couple of antique places we didn't get to on this trip - more to see next time!
I'm a big green fan — although it hasn't been as readily available in the
last couple of years (thus the advantage of
thrift store
shopping, i say!)
Last week on Valentine's Day I went
thrift shopping.
I found a gorgeous, soft cherry red Uniqlo
last year in a
thrift shop.

It was about this time
last year when I discovered Berman's reconstructed garments — made with donated materials, and second - hand clothing from vintage and
thrift shops — and she hasn't lost her signature use layering of vibrant colors and patterns, which is what first drew me to her designs.
